Why this aversion to tuning a car? It's like half the game.. I love taking a st box and whacking a ridiculous supercharger in it, otherwise we are just doing a stock racing series. And I think I'll be out after a few more tbh, you guys crack on - it's just my preference.
This is why I'm hoping to win so stay tuned! I'm sure everyone's saved enough money now to have a more expensive one.. peterattheboro said:
I'm happy to have mods back next week. Maybe we could do something daft and only be able to use a B Class tuned to S1 850 or something.
The thing about it for me is that I know I can make this Beemer go quicker if I put the time in, as it is just a matter of hooking every corner up right. Which is just not that motivating (to me, I know a lot of people do enjoy that sort of thing). It's not like I can go 'but what if I just took a mini and stuck a twin turbo in it?'

I think we've had this discussion before.Firstly it's very time consuming. Do a run or 3, tweak, adjust run again. Change tune, do a run or 3, tweak, adjust, run again. Rinse and repeat.
No mods, it's basically time on the laps not the tuning.
Secondly, I thought it was a battle of driving, not the best tuner. I don't doubt Cutters has spent literally hours on fine tuning. I admire his focus but at times it's been hard to learn from him as you're unsure if he's ahead due to his tunes or his ability. Both I'm thinking.
Thirdly, people can say it's just for fun but no one is spending hours plodding round again and again for a laugh. They want to win. And if it's about the tune then that becomes a bit frustrating.
Fourth. Cost, for some.
I don't mind tunes on some, it's what I use for online, but for this, personally, I just want to turn up, do a run or 5 and then be done if I have a spare 15 mins. I don't want to spend 15 mins just finding a tune and then spending another 10 realising it's ste.

By tuning I mean adding new car parts, not mucking around with suspension settings ad infinitum. I hardly touch them myself tbh, aint got the knowledge for that.
I don't have an issue with that as it simple and qiick- I don't think weve got as clear as that. To now it's tuning involving tyre pressures, diffs and suspension.Maybe we could just do a simple 'only mod is sticking the 5.2 V10 in' as that would be quite a laugh. But perhaps not on a lightweight RWD car like erm, the TVR Sagris
Seems like theres two camps,
Those of us who love tuning and finding stupid cars that go quickly despite all logic (I'll never forget you, Civic RS) and those who want to perfect their lines in a matching car
So why not two challenges? Might screw the score board unless you average the score between each leader board or something. One Standard car, all about the lap; One fixed genre fixed PI?

Could restrict it to just mods and not tuning then next week?
Some might want to go better tyres and lower power or some with crap brakes but a big turbo?
A quirk of the upgrade system means that if you keep standard or street tyres on, you can get class c cars with over 1500bhp .Some might want to go better tyres and lower power or some with crap brakes but a big turbo?

I'm not in any camp - I'll drive anything. I don't know much about modding/tuning, so I download a few tunes from other people and try them. Then usually just wait for Cutters to share the version he put together before the one he actually uses to win

I don't mind either tbh, maybe one week 100% stock, the next modded (as above an odd max PI number) and so on, covers everyone's preference and keeps the interest goingThose of us who love tuning and finding stupid cars that go quickly despite all logic (I'll never forget you, Civic RS) and those who want to perfect their lines in a matching car
