I've only had one session last night, I'm hoping to try more tomorrow or over Saturday as I've been away most nights this week.

I started with race tyres thinking the same thing, but I switched to rally tyres as you lose way more on the gravel than you gain on the road.

Definitely gravel tyres and I find not going all Colin Mcrae is quicker for me with 2 dabs of the handbrake on the 90 right then onto the road via the 90 left.

Anyway, a question regarding gear ratios and final drive.
I have my sunbeam set up with a long final drive for top speed, it has a short first, long second and third and shortish 4th and 5th (forget 6th).
If I adjust the final drive more towards acceleration and alter the gearbox ratios to suit me, will it feel a little more urgent in 4th and 5th?
The cars got the handling and the power I think but I'm struggling for speed on the very last section when I hook 5th.

The last two corners do seem to sap a lot of speed. I never play with the individual ratios, just the final drive.

They do indeed, I alter them most times, I've got it so it launches hard and holds 2nd through the first corner, daft little things like that can help me a little bit.

I've tried quite a few cars but always go back to the sunbeam.

I also only tend to change the final drive, but for anyone struggling with how best to tune gears, I found this video pretty helpful for how to do it 'properly'...!

Yeah I saw that, assume we need someone with a PC to do it properly? Von could perhaps send the spreadsheet etc.

I wasn't sure if this would continue for another season but if there are enough interested parties then it would be good.

Same, if you do beat me I don't think I've got anything left in the tank. There is one area where I am slow, and that's the hard right hander after the big jump, I just can't seem to get it right, getting there cleanly and quick is hard enough.

Oddly the just annoying part for me is the damn first corner!! I either hit the inside or out!

Same, if you do beat me I don't think I've got anything left in the tank. There is one area where I am slow, and that's the hard right hander after the big jump, I just can't seem to get it right, getting there cleanly and quick is hard enough.

That's been my approach with the jump too, I have to brake before the jump so I can actually make the corner, even with race brakes

I'm been spending 12hr days this eeek when I've been off and not working trying to get the house vaguely habitable (and we still have no finished kitchen due to the rain..) so I'm a bit knackered.

I can't do any more, so if you get it, my congratulations to you. I've had one run (flagged) where I was several tenths better but I can't replicate it and I've got a bit bored now. I don't think I'll be on again.

Congratulations to Kitch88 for the win this week! Wish I had more time for it this week, I liked the course and think I could've been up there, and there was a good selection of cars to go through.
