Well that gives me longer to save for PC upgrades laugh

Seriously though, disappointed but understandable. They've said from the beginning that it'll be released 'when it's ready' and I'm glad they're sticking to that.

September will soon fly around,

I'm ok with this, I'd like a polished game.

Same. I assume some bits of the internet are in meltdown at the moment, but I’ll happily wait a bit longer if the result is something like the Witcher 3 except cyberpunk.

Let's be clear - extending the release date of a game does not mean it will be more polished than what was already promised, it just means they were poor at project planning.

As someone who works in software (sadly not gaming) and runs a line of software products, that’s crap. Delays can be down to poor project planning, but any decision to delay release won’t have been taken lightly. They will have client commitments and revenue associated with the release date, and it’s important for companies to honour these commitments.

It’s entirely likely that part of the QA and play testing process has revealed unanticipated problems, considering the number of stories there are likely to be woven into the game. You can’t plan for all of these eventualities and still have a credible project plan, and I’m not hugely surprised that there’s been a delay.

Frankly speaking, the delay in revenue for the company is going to be a much more important consideration for them than how the “gaming community” reacts. It is unlikely that anyone who was going to buy this game will now not buy it at some point, just because it’s delayed. However, the company’s financial projections will now have a hole in them, and no one in the management team will have wanted that.

Awesome, thanks for the website link, really useful this will be. I think ill get an i7 9700k which should futureproof me if i decide to upgrade my gpu in the next year or so. Question, I normally buy pre built, so is it a case of me just taking out my old cpu and putting in the new one (with new thermal paste )? will the pc boot up as normal but just be much faster or will i need to download new drivers or do anything in the motherboard settings?

If anyone is after an i5 6600k for cheap, hit me up!
As long as the CPU is of the same socket your motherboard supports, LGA1151 is your mobo socket and the i7 9700K is also LGA1151 so it will be just a case of following the guide for removal and insertion for that CPU that comes with it, correct orientation and clip down make sure you fit it cleanly and carefully, you don't want to bend any pins.
Just wanted to say this is wrong, encase BerlinChris still hasnt bought things. The best CPU you can fit on a Z170 (6500 mobo) is a 7th Series Intel, so a 7700k. You can NOT fit any 1151 socketed processor in, because Intel. Unlike AMDs AM4 socket.

I see no issue running a 6700K or a 7700K on it. All the intel releases since Skylake have pretty much been refreshes anyway.

I'm running an overclocked octacore i7-6900K and frankly I seldom see significant CPU occupancy. It's generally the GPU that takes a hammering on games, and for that I have a GTX 1080Ti

Edit: And, just to add, I too have fallen foul of the old "The socket may be compatible but the motherboard doesn't support this CPU" issue in the past. Definitely worth checking the specs of the maximum CPU that the motherboard accepts and buy that, unless you want to upgrade your motherboard too. And then your memory when you discover the new motherboard uses different memory. Ask me how I know this. wink

Edit2: Or, worse, the motherboard *does* support the CPU but not without a BIOS upgrade, which you didn't realise before you swapped the CPU, and it won't boot with the new CPU, and won't even let you into BIOS to upgrade it, and the motherboard doesn't support FlashBIOS, so you have to put the old CPU back in, only you're doing it late at night when "tired and emotional" and you slip and wreck the socket pins, so you have to buy a new motherboard. Again, ask me how I know this. paperbag

Even though the delayed release may well be down to give them more time to polish the game, I have a feeling its due to the next gen console release.

It will make it more relevant going forward if its available on both this gen and next gen. Look at GTA it crossed over console generations and is still very much active.

Smart move in my opinion and will most likely increase sales.

Which, let's be honest, should be the case with all games anyway. If I buy a game on PC and upgrade it later I don't have to buy the game again to play it at higher settings!

Given the release date and anticipated console release date, they couldn’t really do much else if they wanted to be sure of selling well at launch. Wonder if they’ll do the same for PS4/5?

That said, CD Projekt Red have form for being against DRM and for being “fair” to gamers, so I might believe this isn’t just motivated by cynicism!

It is a good call by CD Projekt Red. In an ideal world most developers/publishers would follow suit, but I am not banking on it from the likes of EA and R*.

This year has flown past fairly quick so it's not that long until it's out now. It'd be understandable but hopefully they haven't been too badly affected and can still hold on to the current release date.

Comical isn’t it? I find it the same on social media.

Images of guns, pointing guns at people = fine

Tiny bit of a woman’s nipple = meltdown

I wonder what it will be in Australia. They get funny about video games.

Fallout 3 was banned until they change Morphine to Med-X.

I'll be interested to see if we get an uncut version or not.
