Oooh, might give that a crack, see what all the fuss is about! I guess its now available from Steam, rather than having to install Bethesda's own launcher app?
Downloaded and installed last night, and played for about 10 mins. Was surprised how smoothly everything went... defaulted to Ultra graphics settings, on 3440x1440 Ultrawide, and graphically looked alright (much like FO4). Need to get my mate to load it up and hopefully get a few hours gameplay in this week while the trials on.Oh dear, more trouble at t'mill.

More, Bethesda to charge $100 For Fallout 76 Subscription That Paywalls Gameplay Features, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ3NyOw8oNc
Private worlds for you and up to 7 friends, so that will cost $800 in total if you and your friends want to do that. Then lots of gameplay content locked behind this paywall that they said they wouldn't do, they said it would be cosmetic items only.
It's pay to win mechanics as the extras can be used in public server games. $100 for a competitive advantage.
And as he says on the video, Fallout 1st subscription or for the same money an Xbox Live + Gold subscription where you have their big library of games including The Outer Worlds releasing soon.

I was waiting for this to go down to under 10 pounds on PS4 and just got it the other day. I played it for a few hours and I really, really found it boring. Granted I am playing by myself so I am missing out on most the cooperative stuff but my God the world really seems to suffer with NPCs and decent quests.
For the first few hours I was just collecting water and some persons logs and just got so bored.
Went back in to Fallout 4 survival mode and got into that straight away and can't put it down again.
Should I persevere with 76 for longer or is this the best it will get? I'm not in a position to play it with friends I can only play it with randoms unfortunately.

Only the owner of the private world needs to be a subscriber, apparently.FourWheelDrift said:
But as the $100 subscriber you would have an advantage over your friends with all the added gameplay features, so it kind of forces via peer pressure the others to subscribe. Plus making those features available the open public world is another carrot to them. It's stinks just as bad as EA.
Indeed. It really does seem to be the final "fk you" to the fans from Bethesda. What idiot is going to subscribe to this for that amount of money?
(Especially as it is £100/€100/$100. No, really; a currency conversion of 1:1:1)

At Bethesda HQ.
Exec 1 - "Hey that rival game that's better than ours is launching in a few days what can we do to screw them up, like we did last time?"
Exec 2 - "I know lets introduce a higher tier gaming option, we can call it Fallout 1st, make our loyal gamers feel really special"
Exec 1 - "Can we charge them too?"
Exec 2 - "Sure, that way they will feel they are really special to us"
[high fives all around]

That sounds super-easy; barely an inconvenience. Exec 1 - "Hey that rival game that's better than ours is launching in a few days what can we do to screw them up, like we did last time?"

It wouldn't be Bethesda if it wasn't a monumental fk up that needed a few patches to semi-fix. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
