I was a bit suspicious, but pre-ordered, got my beta code then cancelled the pre-order spin

However, after 8 or so hours playing the beta I got into it. It's familiar yet different. The other players I've encountered have been pleasant.

I'm enjoying it so far smile

No singing kids or randoms out to spoil others games? might be worth a look then!

I think which platform you're on makes a big difference on that front.

Hi all,

Massive Fallout fan here but I don’t play online. Is this new fallout game online only, or is there still a traditional solo game to be played?

It's online only, buy you don't have to play with a group if you don't want to, and you can go hours without bumping into anyone depending what you're doing.

Its a different kind of game though. If you really enjoy the NPC interactions etc, you might not find it as enjoyable as a normal single player Fallout.

Thanks, I’ll leave it I think. I don’t actually play any games online so don’t have the connection etc. Cheers.

"Nascent Snallygaster" a what now? - https://youtu.be/plzd48jJr-k?list=WL&t=571

Oh, it's spitting crap. It's just a Frostbite Spider from Skyrim with a different mesh/texture.

45gb for me - which meant I had to uninstall and reinstall as I only had 20gb space on my internal SSD.

It's on the small (but fast) internal SSD because it kept crashing when in was on the external 1tb SSD!

Not crashed at all since it's been 'patched' - but the version number hasn't increased.

Launch a nuke, summon a monster. Launch 3 nukes, kill the server.

Oops.

I haven't got this game, I probably won't get it soon. Maybe when it's fixed, or cheap.

The Steam Autumn Sale had big discounts on all Fallout titles, but Fo76 was absent. In fact it's not on Steam at all.

I presume that Bethesda went ahead with their idea of using their own DRM server then?

Bethesda Net launcher to play it. So I have Steam, Origin and that to load games now.

Is there any point within the game? It looks like one big open shoot em up, with typically bad Fallout graphics.

Yes, It's the same as FO4 in that there are lots of side quests and then a main running story the evolves as you go through. It starts VERY slowly though as they started this game with a very obvious tutorial quest line to start. I am about 20 hours in and the story is only now starting to take proper shape to a point where I actually care about it.

Already 33% off, Uk physical sales 80% lower than Fallout 4 and a score of 55 on Metacritic. Ouch.

It will have been a cheap game for them to make being a copy & paste of resources from Fallout 4 with a new map, quest mapping, voice recordings and few new creatures nothing a few hundred addon mods made by small groups haven't done on previous games. Fo76 still has all the same well documented Fallout 4 bugs as well so they haven't even bothered to fix them. Probably most work went into multiplayer, something a small mod group have had working on Skyrim since 2015 - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67038/?

It's a standalone DLC for Fallout 4. It's the EA Games equivalent of selling a separate FA Cup 2018 game for FIFA 2018 that doesn't required the original game to play.
