I would second that driving and flying games are great in VR. That is what I do mostly.
The only disadvantage in flying games, especially complex ones like DCS, is the sheer number of buttons that need binding. That alone takes hours! And is needed as you can't see the keyboard

Star Wars X-Wing demo .
Say what now? A quick Google suggests this is a development from Starwars Battlefront?

X-Wing and Tie Fighter were what got me in to playing PC games at uni, a new version in FR would be freaking awesome! Is this Playstation only or available for PC?

I did it on the PS4, sorry not sure if it's on the PC. It's a very short demo, basically a VR walk around an X-Wing then you get in and take off for one mission but yes, it really is as good as you hope it will be.

They really need to make a full game of this ASAP, it's almost what VR was invented for.

I used voiceattack with Elite Dangerous and it worked brilliantly. It was actually more immersive "Engage Hyperspace", I would command......"Engaging Hyperspace" my subservient ship would reply. It was all very Sci Fi biggrin

Day one of Oculus Rift.

Unboxing: looks fantastic all laid out neatly in the box, initial reaction is that it looks complex and I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

Setup: simple, intuitive instructions. Anyone that can follow instructions can set one up.

First time putting the headset on is a wow moment. The tutorial and controls are very intuitive immediately and you jump right into the mini game with the robot.

Downloading Robo Recall now, the bundle also came with Marvel United, Dead and Buried, Oculus Medium, Quill, Toybox and Lucky’s Tale. I think we’ll get Superhot and Beat Saber for next weekend.

My 10 year old is having plenty of fun with it on right now, jumped straight in and just naturally seemed to know how to work it.

I know the initial draw will wear off, but it’s a great bit of kit and the entertainment value is immense.

I think the price is worth it for that wow moment alone. I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling of "OMG this is AWESOME" that I experienced when looking around that trailer and interacting with the cute little robot.

I just did the BBC space walk on easy mode, I was swaying to keep my balance to start with but soon got used to it. Very enjoyable experience to do that. Has anyone dared to try to expert astronaut mode?

I can see how people fall over playing some of the games.

Aircar is worth having a go on. Especially as it's free.

You fly around in a Bladerunner / Ghost in the Shell / Deus Ex type cityscape in a flying car.

I had to be quite careful with pitch, yaw, and roll, because although it was fun it did make me more than a little nauseous, so beware on that. Obviously your mileage may vary.

Edit: I played it on an Oculus Rift and downloaded it from the Oculus store.

Update: I think I rather overdid it. I was doing fine until I started doing banks and rolls. It was exhilarating, but then suddenly the cold sweats and nausea hit me. I stopped playing almost immediately, but I still feel pretty nauseous even 30 mins later. Time for bed - I hope it calms down soon.

I must admit I had a bit of a wow moment last night. Project cars 2, Lotus 49 at Monza, 4 wheel drifting round curva grande with a bunch of other cars.

Everspace is to be installed next, I'm looking for a space/air combat game, that doesn't need a degree in astrophysics (I'm looking at you Elite dangerous).

Smooth walking is the trigger fo motion sickmess for me, I'm fine with driving and flying.

Eve: Valkyrie is on my list for some space flight /shooter action at some point.

Shame X4, which has just come out, doesn't support VR, but one of the X3 versions does I believe.

Either that or just install KSP to learn some astrophysics (sadly not in VR) biggrin

Eve is fantastic, if you get it and fancy a game feel free to PM me. I'm rubbish as I don't get much time to play so don't worry about getting shot at!

The only thing in VR that has almost made me nauseous is Radial G. It's like F-Zero crossed with Wipeout and a bit rough around the edges but it's very fast and quite a lot of fun when it gets going. Still on Doom VFR at the moment, great fun!

Doom VFR? Is that a really bad pilot on a sunny day?

(A bit like me in any flight simulator actuallysmile)

A brilliant game on VR (I've only got a PSVR). I need to play it a bit more. Scanning around you looking for the next kill while dodging in and out of huge structures is great fun.

The only time I've felt a little sick in VR is when I was messing around on Gran Turismo Sport and discovered that the 125cc Go-Cart does very rapid donuts. It was great fun to begin with, looking around as you do ever tighter donuts but eventually that bilious feeling strikes.... like reading a book in a moving car.

I do suffer from motion sickness, and find some normal computer games can do it to me. I used to use a version of Arma 2 at work occasionally and had to take seasickness tablets if using it a lot biggrin

I had a go at Echo VR the other day, which I assume is intended as a precursor training and advertising for Lone Echo, and found that made feel a bit dodgy after a while. I also found a Biker helmet cam video on Youtube made me feel a bit queasy within seconds. However stuff where the surroundings stay stationary seem to be fine. So the teleport movement system in Robo Recall seems like a great idea if I can get the nag of using it quickly enough.

I'm slightly unsure how well I'll do on something like Eve:Valkyrie or a driving game though, so plan to experiment with Elite first.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rlTjX_eZag

You can use the touch controllers and move 'normally' and smoothly with the thumbsticks if you want, it's very configurable if you don't like all that teleportation jazz. I have it set up so that the thumbsticks do the movement that way and I use my head to aim, but I was using a pad at the time so I need to try the Touch controllers.

Have any rift owners managed to get DoomVFR working properly?

I have heard mixed reports, I had a punt for a tenner on steam but may end up getting a refund?

Yup, me. What problems are you having? I find games in Steam get 'imported' into Oculus so they can be launched from there. The game itself didn't run properly the first time I ran it and was going to delete it but worked fine the second time.
