But are we really saying that Facebook are going to disable your device at the driver level of you are not logged into your Facebook account?
Yes.

I couldn't use my Quest 1 at all until I'd confirmed I wasn't going to link it to Facebook. Until you can get to the home screen you can't do anything at all with it. No way could I have reached Steam VR.

I get the impression that after 2023, as long as you still refuse Facebook, your Quest 1 will be more along those lines and it'll revert to being dumb plus there'll be no way to access anything online or multiplayer.

Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook disabled Link anyway at that moment just to punish you. There is no way they're going to let you get away with using your property in the way you want to.

Yeah, the *ahem* adult content experience is amazing, I have a few terabytes of the stuff. The problem being you can't see what's going on around you, imagine the Mrs walking in while you're effectively wearing a blindfold, and deaf to the outside world... going at it. Risky game!

The 4k/5k/6k stuff is truly immersive wink
I had a look at some stuff last night (google "Angela White") and while impressive I thought it was a bit weird. Mrs DS was laughing as she could hear the bit about the whipped cream on the boobs.

Dara O'Briain did a stand-up skit on the whole VR porn thing, and he was saying how men are generally not known for looking around the room admiring the decor whilst "on the job" and that, since that was the primary thing for VR, he couldn't really understand the whole "VR porn" thing. smile

Edit: Also the high risk factor of being caught, unless you could be 100% sure that you were alone in the house, and there were no other keyholders, etc. smile

I have just bought the Quest 2 from a local shop and am struggling to install a specific game and I think I may have to re purchase.

When I had the Rift I purchased the essentials game pack featuring Superhot VR. When I click on Superhot VR on the Quest 2 it is saying the price rather than re downloand. Do I take it that the Rift version is not compatible with the Quest 2?

Thanks

It’s all about the feeling of immersion. The ‘walk the plank’ game still triggers physical sensations with a restricted field of view. You could play it on screen and not feel a tiny fraction of the immersion.

I’m guessing there is a similar thrust to 360 vids.

Personally sincerely be porn is a bit too close to the bone. Maybe it’s an uncanny valley thing but it feels a bit awkward to me! I felt some shame.

That's the list of cross buy games that you can use on multiple platforms. Doesn't look like it's on there.

Thanks. Didnt appreciate there would be cross platform issues from one device to another.

Ok picked up a Quest 2 a couple of weeks back. Been playing some of the free content, and paid for Vader Immortal, was good but felt like a Disney ride rather than a game and the whole thing was completed in 30 mins or so, not great value for money. Given the games aren’t cheap, am wary of what to buy next as the prices are relatively high for what could be very basic games that give an hour or two of gameplay at most.

I got the vader things free. I would not have been impressed if I'd paid for them.

The most durable ones for me are the most active like thrill of the fight or eleven table tennis. They're both pretty infinitely repayable.

There's a lot that won't be but you can get refunded easily enough.

Haven't been quite convinced by all this VR thing so far but I picked up Ace Combat 7 which I enjoy very much and just thought that adding near 360° visibility with the VR may turn a pretty exciting game into something quite terrific... Any feedback on this?

AC only has VR compatibility on Playstation by the look of it. IF you are talking PS then it should be pretty cool. If you are talking PC then you are out of luck.

VR steps Star Wars Squadrons up a level, it's very cool to be sat in an x-wing or TIE fighter and makes the game way more playable.

Waiting patiently for my HP Reverb G2 to arrive now, been a while since I've done anything in VR as back when I had my Vive, Budget Cuts was still only a demo.

Depends on the content and how much of a filthy bd you are I think. Some of it works well some of it doesn’t. Only thing you can do is simply explore.

The risk factor in getting caught is rather high too. How long are you going out for dear? Why is the chain in the door you ask? Er no reason.

Hi guys,

I have scanned the thread and I am trying to gather information on VR. My son wants it (Christmas) and I am trying to see if it is viable and value for money!!!

He has his xBox one and laptop with steam (loves Garys mod) etc

He has said about this Oculus Quest and it seems there are 64gb and 256gb for £299 and £399. But the questions is, will he get the use out of it. OR is there something better?? I am not on point with the gaming scene and technology.

All advice is very welcome
thanks

In my experience the 64gb is plentiful in size as the games are quite small

I am glad that I got one, it is my first dip into the world of VR and it certainly is quite mind blowing if you haven't experienced it before. I do think that unless some games are released with the depth of a console / PC game I can see it gathering dust on the shelf before too long. The games remind me of the early days of gaming with the C64 etc, in that they are quite simplistic and crude in nature.

I paid $370 (I am in US) for the 64gb version with Elite strap. Wasn't a huge amount of money so if it does gather dust after a while its not the end of the world, having said that an Xbox Series X isn't that much more expensive at $499.... If you do buy one I wouldn't splurge for the 256gb, the game sizes are small and you can fit quite a few onto the device without filling it up.
