Also, when you put the headset on, even with the link cable connected you still have to use the controllers to enable Oculus Link mode. Not the end of the world but it is annoying if, like me, you bought it to use pretty much permanently with PC VR.
You can enable hand tracking so that you can make menu selections from the main Oculus 'home environment' by pointing and pinching your thumb and forefinger together - no need to use controllers. I don't play flight sims except for stuff like Star Wars squadrons and all my controls are on the flight stick. You just have to remember where they are or use something like VoiceAttack.
Are the switches physical or virtual? if you have to take your hands off the controls and find a button, forget it. If you are using a mouse/keyboard it's muscle memory.
Pressing buttons in a lot of VR games depends on how it has been implemented some allow the use of your virtual hands via controllers, some you use look controls etc.
There is the option of using leap-motion which virtualises your hands in the game. Looks like you need to mod the game itself but this is a video of what you can do.

Just been pointed to this topic having posted about getting my first VR.
OMG Im so amazed by VR. Another poster mentioned what benefits you get.
I was keen on flight sims and not done any for many years but downloaded DCS recently (2 weeks ago!) and played with keyboard, then got my warthog hotas last Friday and then my HP Reverb G2 on Saturday.
(also playing HL alyx with the children)
Monitor DSC was great, good visuals etc
getting the hotas was great so a happy bunny.
getting the VR is another world. So i understood about moving the head around to scan the sky etc but what I wasnt aware of was the 3d effect. Its almost perfect 3d effect for the cockpit - HL Alyx is amazing 3d
it adds a real depth, feel and movement to everything - im blown away. Its exceeded my view in VR for sure. took a bit of time to get the settings right for DSC but almost there now. have a GTX 2080super so a mid/good GPU but not the best for sure and its runs it great.
Im keen on DSC and would love to buddy up for a flight/fight/fun etc if anyone wants one day - give me more practice and Ill be there. f16c brought so far. just working on the tutorials and You tube how too.
SuperlightR is my game name as well.

Genuine question for any flight sim fans with VR.
I am now using headtracking with DCS and its made a huge difference, managing all the keys, switches etc is quite a task. Does VR add to this complexity or is it worth the initial hump?
DSC you can use the cockpit buttons with the mouse so no keybinding needed. pretty easy tbh to do. Mouse is next to the joystick so easy to access with VR on. all key actions are bound to the Joystick/throttle controls anyway.
found the zoom key binding for VR so can now easily zoom in to cockpit or outside
only a few days into it all and loving learning the process and playing it.

PSA: Clickable cockpits are not on ALL DCS planes, the ones like the F-15C , i.e. the Flaming Cliffs 3 planes, dont have clickable cockpits, they are simpler than something like the F-16, It does, yes.
I STILL havent got around to setting it up though
There's also Viacom Pro
