DLC “Peril on Gorgon” now available. Just started a new play through to get into it again
Thought I'd jump into the DLC last night, only to find you can't just start it anywhere and I'll have to start a 3rd play through to get to it.

Will probably just play the DLC part, as I can't be arsed doing another full play through just to see if changes the ending.
Cheers for the info. I’ll create a save point before the final mission on this play through as there’s apparently a second one coming out soon thumbup

Aye, fortunately I kept manual saves so I had one from before the end at level 28.

I recently picked the Spacer's Choice Edition as an Epic Games Store freebie.

I run a 3400x1440 21:9 monitor and was initially really put off by the half-arsed support for 21:9 and the way your hand & gun look way too big and zoomed in. Fortunately I found a mod that fixes that and makes the game playable.

I've been playing it a LOT over the past few days and have clocked up around 26 hours of gameplay already, although I haven't finished the main quest yet as partway through, after finishing at Groundbreaker, I accidentally triggered the Murder on Eridanos DLC (which I really enjoyed) and have only got back to the main quest now after finishing that.

I'm really enjoying it.

edit: Doing the DLC did rather spoil me a little though, as the gear you get om Eridanos is SO much better (and higher level) and now I am back on the main game I'm finding that the loot I'm picking up is rather lame and just gets sold / scrapped the moment I can. But that's ok as I have my favourite loadout of gear now and it's working for me.

Funnily enough I just re-installed this last week as realised I'd never finished it. Not got much left in the main quest and will then knock over the DLCs. It is a fun game, I just have a bad habit of getting bored with things and not finishing them!

I have to say that the Space-Crime Continuum quest is such a crock. Upon completion Lilya tells you the shipment will make her literally millions of bits, yet your reward is a couple of thousand (and that's with Persuade of 100+ in order to get her to give you a bonus).

Still, that's ultra-capitalism for you I guess. hehe

This late in the game (level 36) I still only have around 25,000 bits. In other games by this stage I would have more money than I know what to do with.

I kept meaning to go back to this as I never finished the dlc.

Looking forward to seeing what they bring with the second one as in hindsight I had way more fun with this than Starfield.

I have read too many negative reviews to give Starfield a go yet, plus the price hasn't dropped enough. I hear that it really fails with "stumbling across stuff on your own" which was one of the things I loved about the Fallout games and the Elder Scrolls games.

I'm really enjoying The Outer Worlds. It's so clearly an Obsidian game just like Prey is so clearly an Arkane game. And all the better for it.

I know people get het up when you say "FO:NV in Space" but it really is and in a good way!

Actually, talking of which, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that the graphics on this game are like something from 10+ years ago, even with everything maxed out. But that's ok, I can live with this; it gives it a certain charm.

edit: I mean, the game is not without its flaws; it's kinda dumbed down inasmuch as you have general ammo called "light", "heavy", and "energy", and there's no lockpicking or hacking minigames, it's just "do you have the <thing> and do you have the skill?". And yet they built in a degradation system that means you have to constantly repair your equipment. Although it becomes a total inconsequence once you have the engineering skills to repair in the field (not dissimilar to the backpack in Metro: Exodus).

Well, I finished it. All side-quests, all companion quests, both DLCs, and main quest (which finishes the game and has no "free play" after). Total play time around 50+ hours.

It was a *very* Obsidian game. Felt very comfortable, like slipping on a favourite well-worn jacket or pair of gloves.

Really enjoyed it. However, I have little desire to do another play-through unless it is a quick "side with the Board and dob Phineas in immediately" one (which I have read is quite a short story with not many quests) but we shall see.

edit: Um, ok, I'm on playthrough 3 now. Playthrough 2 was "side with the Board" which was fairly unsatisfying. Playthrough 3 has my character with Intelligence set to minimum, which unlocks "dumb mode" and gives a load of unique dialogue. I have called this character "Thickie Holden" in honour of Red Dwarf. LOL
