Ac odyssey so far for me. Better than origins. Huge game.

Starting RDR2 properly in the new year. Played an hour straight after finishing odyssey & controls didn’t feel great, it also felt slow eg walking speed. So having a break & coming back to it fresh. I was obsessed with the first RDR so hoping this lives up to it.

A bit oddball and underground from me but Kenshi, which finally released just recently after years in early access purgatory.

It's a completely freeform RPG strategy sandbox in an unforgiving world full of slavers, religious nutters, wierd monsters and alien races which has given me endless hours of fun doing everything from sneaky thieving to bulding towns to fighting wars.

Something way different from all the AAA big name stuff.

RDR2 without doubt
Does anyone else keep misreading this acronym as R2D2?
This is not the droid you're looking for.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for me also - the original Red Dead Redemption was my favourite game of th previous console generation, I think RDR2 will be the same for this generation.

On PC I’ve really enjoyed Battle Brothers, although a little janky in places it’s filled a good few hours.

Another vote for RDR2 here, the most enjoyable game I’ve played for a while. I actually got quite attached to Arthur Morgan.

I have a huge backlog of games to get through so I didn't play many 2018 releases.

Of the ones I did get a chance to play I vote starlink battle for atlas (switch version)

It's what I wanted no man's sky to be, plus I'm a Starfox fan and the ability to play anywhere just made it a really enjoyable experience overall - regardless of its flaws.

Agreed, but I'm not entirely sure it's a *gaming* masterpiece.

Never you mind

Some of the scenery in it is quite amazing so artistically it is a masterpiece. I love it, so much to do and so much fun to be had with it.

Another one here for GTA Vice City. I just keep going back to it every couple of years. The setting, attention-to-detail, comedy, soundtrack...

I desperately want Rockstar games to make another Vice City for PS4, surely it would sell like crazy again? Imagine the capability on today's platform

Witcher 3 for me, I miss it now that's its gone.

I also miss playing Gwent.

Best "Game within a game" ever? Load Witcher 3, just sit in a tavern playing endless Gwent.....

I know it's an old game, but the best game I played in 2018 was Nier: Automata - Become as Gods Edition on the Xbox One X. Technically it counts as they only released it on Xbox in 2018.

Everything about it including the storyline, characters, music, gameplay was just brilliant and I'm a sucker for JRPGs.

2nd would probably be RDR2
