I enjoyed the demo for this and the reviews are looking good. I can't remember the last time I saw a game on steam having such a positive reception.

I'm a tight git so I'm still going to wait out for a bit for the price to come down grumpy and hopefully the DRM will be gone by then as well.

Been playing this since the first game on ps1 eons ago.

Loved the PS4 VR version and gave in and stumped up the cash today for RE2 after thinking the demo looked superb (first full price game I’ve bought in years).

Can’t wait!

This game is superb if you really like survival horror, and remember and still love the original RE 1,2, 3 and Code:Veronica. It feels exactly how a remake should be, it plays and looks superb - and is so damn scary in a lot of places. The atmosphere is nigh on perfect - best played at night with all lights off for maximum effect.

Over the past 2 years, there have been no more than 4 games I have not regretted buying (the 2 Assassin's Creed open world games and Horizon: Zero Dawn), RE2 is the forth.

Well worth the full price, I think.

I have played it for about an hour so far and am busy working around the police station. It's very good and the graphics are good. But I can't help feeling that it's not as scary or as difficult as the original. Having said that, I have played the original about a hundred times, so there are no surprises. It's a bit more gory which I think is unnecessary. I just think it's lacking something. One thing about the original was the slow opening of the doors. That really built up the tension. With this version it's just a rush to get from A to B. Also there are too many video scenes in this. It makes you feel that you are not exploring a game but simply following the line. Don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying it and it was money well spent, but to be honest, I still prefer the original. Would recommend it though.

Is there more to the game than the original? I recall being able to complete RE2 in less than two hours on the Playstation in order to unlock the Gatling gun. I assume it's not that short now otherwise it will be a rather short game by today's standards!

I seem to be a lot less patient now than I was years ago, back then I'd finish Resident Evil 1/2/3/4 without much issue/frustration. I'm currently playing Resident Evil 7 and it has been driving me mad, I can't even get past the boss in the morgue! I seem to give up too easily now.

I played the demo of this and I really enjoyed it, when it goes down in price I will pick up a copy for sure.

First time I played RE7 I got stuck on the chainsaw boss and had to restart on easy, but doing so made the game a lot more enjoyable, since the most difficult part is definitely the opening sections. Just started RE2 on normal with Claire, so hopefully it's not too daunting.

He's a right fker isn't he. Really ramps up the stress levels.

Mind you even normal zombies just refuse to die:

I love how random it can be with the amount of bullets required.

Also, Claire is great. Much better than the original.

I think the fact he just relentlessly walks after you and is completely expressionless makes him far creepier than a monster who runs, screams or shouts. Claire's model and the graphics on the whole are really nice, but is it just me or is her mouth a bit off?

In unsurprising but welcome news, the cover art for the RE3 remake has been leaked, with a somewhat Keanu Reeves looking Carlos

Should be great, although will be interesting to see how they differentiate Nemesis from Mr X.

Hopefully he isn't as broken as in the original. I think RE3 was the weakest of the classics, though that might be because it was centered around Nemesis.

I never got round to buying RE2make, but playing it round a freinds I feel the same way as RE4. That it's a good game but it doesn't grip me like the classics.

A fixed camera, pre renedered game would look amazing. But I suppose I'm the minority who play it for the artwork as much for the gameplay. Even Code Veronica would probably look really nice, even though it felt like a step back at the time (using full 3D).

I'll be keeping an eye out for this. Though I sound a bit negative, it is good that RE has found a new audience, along with long time fans in enjoying these games getting back to their roots.

The last modern RE game I’ve played was - Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Which was great, I thought. A few others I simply couldn’t get on, on a previous generation console.

RE2 was the very first game I bought. Came as a bundle from the Electronics Boutique store too...

RE2 was one of the first games I bought with my own money as well - or at least tried to, EB wouldn't sell it to me as it was a 15, so had to get my mum to go back on my behalf.
