Hi guys, sorry for thread hijack! I've just started playing the first game and so far think it's one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. I only play single player, perhaps its meant to be played with others to make it easier? The enemies are like bullet sponges at times. One mission I must have tried 20 times but kept getting killed by those tossers walking up to you with the shields! I couldn't take them out with a headshot as I had other people shooting at me, draining my health very quickly! Annoying as hell! Are there any better guns or armour I should be looking out for as , despite being level 14, I am weak as fook still. I'm running out of things to do as I can't complete the missions as there are too many bullet sponge enemies to kill. Any tips would be welcome before I sack it off!! Its a shame as the idea is great and exactly what I like in a game. Cheers
From what I remember, Lightweight M4 assault rifle was considered the best AR in the game. LVOAC running a close second if RNG is unkind. As many here have said, use cover extensively. A well placed grenade at the start of an engagement is also very useful. Skills were much stronger in Div 1 so, with decent skill power, a turret or sticky bomb coupled with seekers can be a fun way to play and is surprisingly effective even before the endgame.
Aim assist was also very useful. Aim at the enemy with your reticle before you ADS and, as soon as you do, you'll snap to the target, Very effective for short bursts with an AR or with rifles like the M1A.
Back on topic, I'm still playing Division 2 a fair bit. .
I was running a DPS build but, after the update, that'll be nerfed to death so, I've put together a pretty decent 4, 7, 7 build. The only things I'm actively chasing at the moment is a higher GS assault rifle, some gloves with competent (I have literally never seen this perk on any gloves that have dropped for me!) and one or two higher GS pieces to complete the build.
I'm currently GS 492 and the build seems pretty well rounded. I run unstoppable force and on the ropes for most of my DPS, with about 75% DtE. I have patience and chem launcher for heals. Seeker mines to proc on the ropes. Optimist on my AR, unhinged on my LMG and the exotic pistol. I'm hoping for the mostpart that this will avoid many of the nerfs. The only two that should be impacted are patience and unhinged (I think).
It seems to work well in most content although, I've not done anything heroic yet.

I'm still having fun with this. I've been trying to see if I can put together a skill build that is a viable option for solo play. Turns out that it is!
I've mostly stacked cooldown reduction, which is up to around 78% I think. Seeker & turret cooldowns are currently at 20 seconds. I could go lower but, I'm not sure I want to sacrifice more skillpower. I'd like to get the 'skilled' talent in the mix which mean skill kills have a 25% chance to reset the cooldown of other skills. I think that would mitigate the difference but, don't have a way to use it at the moment. Also 'calculated' whereby any kill reduces skills cooldown by 20%
I'm running perseverance, rooted and recharged on my weapons. I'm running the demolitionist specialist and have destructive on I think 2 or 3 armour pieces.
Only put it together this morning and decided to tackle a level 3 CP as a test. I did die once (I'm not used to not having my chem launcher to heal me and ran out of armour kits!) and it doesn't help that this is a glassy build as I only have a single blue point into defense!! But, I did take over the CP solo at level 3 so, the build certainly seems viable.
It is still a work in progress but, it was good fun this morning - totally different non meta playstyle and reminiscent of the Tactician from D1 which I enjoyed. As far as I can tell, none of the upcoming nerfs will have any impact either.
Anyone else still playing?

I am still playing but currently not looking to create a build as I don't have the weapons I want yet.
I am a level 498 and I think when the gear drops at 500 ill start looking at a PvP build as I am getting rinsed in the DZ. I have a full set of True Patriot gear which works wonders in PVE but is terrible in the DZ. My True Patriot gear ranges between 502 and 512 as I have re calibrated but I have now run out of materials and my weapon levels let me down.
I have also been pretty stupid when it comes to gear/mods etc, I have been breaking them down as I don't fully understand it but I am starting to watch a few YouTube clips so getting better.

5 of the gear sets work as you can see the colours above the baddies head light up and they get melted, the 6th gear set is questionable as I have not or cant see that 25 meter damage. It works pretty well in PVE with a few of you as all I need to do is fully light up an elite baddie and the others can melt him.
What I am trying to work out is the best special weapon for me. I currently use the grenade launcher but I use an AR so they dont work together and I am waiting for a decent SMG to drop to try that. I have watched a video on You tube that says some of the Sniper class perks work well with an AR so ill try that next.

I've run a couple of strongholds with randoms who were using True Patriot and, if nothing else, it helped me locate the enemies more easily. The problem with the gear sets is that they aren't desirable. Whenever a green drops, it either gets dismantled or put in my stash in case things change. Even the raid sets that have been talked about sound really niche.
I made a few tweaks this morning and sacrificed some skill power for cooldown reduction. Seekers now refresh in 11.6 seconds and my turret is closer to 8 seconds, which is pretty insane! I'm running an LMG primary and SMG secondary (first time I've used an SMG since launch) and they seem to work pretty well together. Gear Score is around 491 but, GS is a largely irrelevant number.
If the incoming update fixes skill mods and makes them more useable, this may even become my main build and replace my unstoppable force build.

Okay so, a partial U-Turn on my part. I tried out the True Patriot 6 piece at the weekend and, it was actually kind of fun. It works best as a support build in a group as damage output is too low by comparison to my other builds for it to be viable in solo play.
The feedback from teammates was that, for anyone running skills other than reviver hive and chem launcher, skill cooldown was the most noticeable buff but, they also liked knowing that they were receiving a buff of some sort from every marked enemy they shot at.
They also liked the fact that it would become very obvious to them that I wasn't pulling my weight if they weren't seeing enough marked enemies

I am still using 5 pieces of the Patriot gear but I am avoiding the DZ as I am waiting until next weeks update to start a AR build for the DZ.The feedback from teammates was that, for anyone running skills other than reviver hive and chem launcher, skill cooldown was the most noticeable buff but, they also liked knowing that they were receiving a buff of some sort from every marked enemy they shot at.

I now have a 499 rated P416 with allegro, other stats are 25ish % Critical hit and critical hit chance but 100% head shot damage. I find I have adapted slightly and now try to hit everyone in the head which is pretty much working. I have cross bow class for the extra 15% AR damage so hopefully after next weeks update I can start sorting my gear out ready.
The only prob I find with the Patriot gear, its all defensive mods. Its great in PVE but I want to build a full on offensive build for the DZ

It will be interesting to see what impact today's update is going to have. True Patriot is getting buffed along with loads of other things. Ironically, I found the final bit of the puzzle for my current build, just before it inevitably gets ruined!
It is a 3, 7, 7 build with Unstoppable Force, Compensated, Safeguard & Patience and was pretty much melting everything (in PvE). Also a custom P416 with allegro and some random skills talent.
I had been running on the ropes but, was getting a bit sick of having to constantly monitor my chem launcher cooldowns and I missed running the Hive reviver so, compensated on the gloves was the better option. In all my hours of play, I have only seen compensated drop once! Either I'm very very unlucky or, it is a very rare talent.
It will no doubt be nerfed today along with everything else I'm running!!
I'm running similar, 2/9/7.
But I have OTR, its quite nice hitting 100k damage shots with an AR
As with the division 1, every update will render your old gear useless. Why I quit it the first one. Hope they reach a happy medium this time and don't obsolete your whole loadout overnight.

I think OtR and compensated give the same damage buff (15% iirc) but, compensated means I don't have to actively do anything as long as my crit chance is under 20%. As I only have a paltry 5% on this build, it is always active
The NPCs are supposed to be getting a nerf too so, even though a lot of talents are changing and will be harder/impossible to activate with certain builds, the game shouldn't necessarily feel harder.
This update is particularly sweeping and hopefully not the shape of things to come. I'll be gutted if my build is completely ruined but, I'm okay with having to tweak it here and there. I have a few other builds to play around with but, this one is my main so I'd like it to remain effective.

I've got both from memory, So I have damage to elites stacked everywhere possible, Patience, compensated, otr and headshot damage perk.
I wish there was an API, I could pull my build down from at work.
Plus chatterbox is secondary gun, for that nice 20% firerate.
Weirdly with my current build, purples are harder to kill than yellows/named!

Yeah, I would love to be able to tweak builds from work! I really hope they do that eventually.I wish there was an API, I could pull my build down from at work.

Yes, also running Chatterbox as secondary. I ran the same on my DPS build, which had something crazy like 135% DtE and, like you, I found the purples harder to kill than the yellows (yellows were very easy to kill!)
Current build has around 60 or 70% I think. I could go higher but, decided after a certain point,a lower increase to overall damage is probably more useful than focusing on DtE alone.
Most of my damage comes from unstoppable force which, when active currently gives me something close to a 50% damage increase! This will be pretty much halved by the update but, I think we all get an armour boost so it may not be as big a nerf as it looks on paper.
ETA - just been reading through the patch notes and honestly, things aren't as bad as I thought.
Patience
After being in cover for 5s, armor repairs by 5% every 1s. (was 3s).
Now requires 6 Defense Attributes
An extra 2s wait and higher defense requirement but, still quite strong.
Safeguard
Reduced Duration from 20 to 5 seconds.
Can only occur once every 20 seconds.
Now requires 4 or less Offense Attributes
Quite a big nerf but, still worth running.
Unstoppable Force
PvE
Killing an enemy now grants 2% Weapon Damage for every 25.000 Max armor.
BIG nerf but, armour is getting boosted so possibly not as bad as it looks.
Compensated & On the Ropes look like they've not been touched.
Looks like my build isn't broken after all

The changes don't seem to have made much difference, everything I pick up has worse health/armour than I have currently, I still can't find the weapons with specific talents required for projects
Oh and the raid that comes out tomorrow looks like an almighty fk up - no matchmaking. So, basically if you haven't got 8 people on your clan you're st out of luck.....
If they are trying to lose people from the game, they are doing very well so far....

I've found a few with good damage rolls (20k plus) that I've been able to recalibrate. Currently at 280k armour which gives UF a 22% damage boost. I've gone back to on the ropes and using it in conjunction with spotter. So I get 20% dmg boost to pulsed enemies and, once it is on cooldown I still get 15% damage boost from on the ropes.Oh and the raid that comes out tomorrow looks like an almighty fk up - no matchmaking. I hadn't realised they were nerfing damage to elites along with everything else! I only have 30% on my current build although, with 91% headshot damage and all the other buffs, things still seem to die pretty quickly!
I'm on the fence about matchmaking for the raid.
If it is a genuine 'raid like' encounter, matchmade teams of 8 randoms should have precisely zero chance of success. Destiny didn't have matchmade raids in all the time I actively played and it was never an issue at the start. After each raid had been out for a while however, it became a struggle finding 6 people online at the same time. My Division Clan is pretty much dead now. There are a few guys I play with, who I met through answering random calls for help so could probably get about 5 people together. But 8 is a big team to co-ordinate.
Are you on PS4? You're welcome to add me if you are (PSN ID = Speckle)
Myself, Crafty and Wilkibob have a clan (there are 2 other PHers in it, although never actually been in a game with them) - Would like to try a raid so might be worth getting us all together from this thread to try it out (if we can get 8 of us?) - I can be online tomorrow night - PSN=Joyrider1
