Back on this evening and managed it first time! Where we were going wrong was that we were trying to kill everyone before opening the crates and blowing them up. When running straight in and tackling the crates straight away we didn’t get all of the robots so was much easier

Just managed level 30 last night and was surprised after hitting the last stronghold what came next. Have my gear score up to about 255 at the moment.
So hoping to get matched up a little more with fellow Xbox players from now

I got the Chatterbox last night thanks to a bit of RNG with the Hyena caches. The holstered perk is insanely good! Basicallly, if you get a kill and reload within 5 seconds (reloading after every kill is already one of my bad habits hehe ) You get an increased fire rate of 20% on the weapon you're using for the next 10 seconds. This gives my assault rifle an RPM of 900, which is frankly ridiculous!

The SMG itself isn't all that powerful so, I need to re-spec into SMG damage but, my word, the DPS increase is impressive. One of the drawbacks seems to be regularly running out of ammo. I need to get into the habit now of going back to a safe house after every major encounter because if you start anything with only half a mag, you'll be screwed in no time.

Good fun though, all the hype seems to be justified thumbup

Im the opposite - fire-fire-fire, get into cover and wait for them to duck out, pop out and fire-autoreload... ah bks!
I never learn either

I've also found that the mag empties far quicker than I'm used to so, if I have no choice but to switch targets before a reload, more often than not, I'll find the mag will be empty before the NPC dies (especially on challenging content)

We both obviously have poor ammunition management skills biggrin

So, the WT5 Tidal Basin update.....

Big changes to skills, mods & weapons. Assault rifle extended mags have been nerfed by 66% - when equipped, you now only receive an additional 10 rounds, although there are now no negative attributes. I found this really annoying last night, I think it makes the 20% extra rounds talent a viable option over allegro or hard hitting.

Safeguard still seems decent. There is apparently a 30s internal cooldown but, as the buff lasts 20s anyway, this doesn't seem to have made much difference.

Progress is slow. Did Tidal Basin, then 2 invaded missions and 2 further strongholds last night. Then did some control points, a side mission and the daily hard mission this morning and still only up to 457. I could probably go slightly higher but, my 450 assault rifle has better talents than anything else at the moment.

Apart from the extended mag, the update seems fine to me. MK17 still very usable despite another nerf. Chem launcher now needs a double tap to deploy at your feet, that took some getting used to. I lost count of the number of times I fired a healing cloud at an enemy by mistake hehe

Only other thing I noticed is that there seemed to be no specialist ammo dropping. Like, none whatsoever - I didn't fire a single grenade launcher shot the entire time. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

There are some +20 round clips now, not sure where the blueprints are from though.

I'm enjoying the patch changes - completed most of the content now, mainly using a SMG build. Agree on the ammo for the launcher - I've seen 3 shell drop in 2 days! The ammo probably did drop a bit too much before, but 3 or 4 a mission would be nice.

I also managed to complete the Chatterbox and Liberty solo, which was very hard work. The final mission to get the Liberty was ridiculous! i must have died 20 times haha. Glad I don't have to hunt keys anymore, although the Hyena ones are like hens teeth. I have a full amount of the other keys.

Worth mentioning, Gear score doesn't mean anything... A optimised 450 is going to be miles better than a 510 with random bits

Yeah, I heard about these. Sturdy mags, which come with +20 rounds and also a negative attribute. Apparently, the blueprints are an RNG drop from completing weekly projects. I've completed two so far but, had no luck.

I've noticed this too. I've been fortunate enough to make GS 486 without too many significant compromises. In fact, the only significant compromise is that I have shotgun damage rolled on my gloves despite never using shotguns. Everything else is specced into being a glass cannon - even with high armour and health, you still take insane damage from NPCs so, I figured the best defence is offence. If they're dead, they can't do me any damage at all! Seems to be working okay so far.

Blueprints come from completing Level 3 control points, however they're currently broken. As are projects...

Also the project where you need to collect gear from missions to unlock gearset blueprints is bull-poop. Its a huge RNG as to if you get one of the components in the first place. (you need 10 of them, 1 of each).

Then you need to get them again to craft a single piece. And then the single piece could be any GS from 440 upwards. Many complaints on Reddit about the impossibility of it.

I think the sturdy mag exists in a different loot pool, exclusive to the weekly projects (I may be wrong about that.)

I'm very disappointed with the gear sets. So much so that I'm not really interested in collecting them or trying them out. The perks & talents on them seem a bit gimmicky and all but useless for any meaningful endgame content. Why in the world would you give up all of your good stats and talents for the tiniest amount of special ammo, which has a 33% chance of only being available on your pistol. Too niche and too much of a ballache.

The skills one sounds good on paper but, as marcostyle pointed out, 99% of the time, both skills will be active so, there will be no cooldown timer to reset in the first place.

I remember grinding for the Striker set, the nomad set, the Tactician set and the reclaimer set in Division 1 - I really, really, really wanted them!! The 6 piece talents were strong and desirable. They was a tier above any high end gear and worthy of the grind.

The current gear sets feel like the exotic weapons in the release version of Destiny 2.....they all just seem a bit st and not worth chasing. Pity really - I hope they release a gear set that I actually want to chase!

Hi guys, sorry for thread hijack! I've just started playing the first game and so far think it's one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. I only play single player, perhaps its meant to be played with others to make it easier? The enemies are like bullet sponges at times. One mission I must have tried 20 times but kept getting killed by those tossers walking up to you with the shields! I couldn't take them out with a headshot as I had other people shooting at me, draining my health very quickly! Annoying as hell! Are there any better guns or armour I should be looking out for as , despite being level 14, I am weak as fook still. I'm running out of things to do as I can't complete the missions as there are too many bullet sponge enemies to kill. Any tips would be welcome before I sack it off!! Its a shame as the idea is great and exactly what I like in a game. Cheers

I play quite a lot.
Have a discord.
Add me on uplay WhyYouHaffBeMad if you want :-)

Also have a clan - Clue Clucks Clan. Welcome to join.

Not gear level 500 yet but will be soon, I'm not in a rush to get 500 when I have awesome equipment so far.
Will probably swap put beserk vest though as even with 50k health I'm basically one shot.

What perks are you using?
I find the turret and the seeker mine the best for my style.
Gun wise i use a combination of assault rifle and shotgun or marksman and shotgun.

In missions it can be a royal PITA when you get rushed by loads of people which is where the perks help.

Best tip I can give is just to keep your distance, find some cover and start picking everyone off - but take your time. Going in full-on Rambo mode will never end well. Sometimes you can climb a structure and get cover higher up which is even better, although can cause problems if enemies get up there or behind you. Throughout the whole game I’ve only used a normal rifle and marksman rifle (adding mods where possible), with a turret and vive thingy that’ll revive you once when you die.

Stick with it, roaming the streets really does get easy once you’ve started getting decent levels of weapon/armour. And if you can, start doing missions with other people - whilst it increases the amount of enemies, it makes it easier to assist each other with revives etc

Thanks for the advice guys. I play with a sniper rifle and a machine gun. Sniper is quite powerful but slow. I use the sawn off shotgun along with the shield as a perk + the turret. I guess I need better armour as it doesn't take too many hits to kill me!

Use cover to protect you, and duck down behind it again when you need to use a med kit. There are talents that heal you while in cover too (Patience). I really love it.

As others have said, take your time and think strategically. The AI is quite clever at flanking you and putting you under pressure. It's useful to keep moving between cover as well - they know where you are if you stay in the same place all the time!

For the shield guys, use a grenade or aim at their feet! It really works smile

I use a LMG as my main weapon as it keeps the enemy suppressed a lot and hammering an elite with 100 bullet mag really does stop them in their tracks. i also use the marksman rifle to kill at a distance.

Again, as others have said, distance is your friend! I only play solo and can now manage some missions and bounties that are "challenging", so it can be done. I did try a heroic bounty once, which was ridiculous and never again!

It's not really a game that rewards staying at a distance.
As your crit chance and damage drops off quite a bit over distance depending on the gun.

I use AR with Breadbasket and LMG and my holster has filler-upper so I cycle between LMG, AR, reload from empty, back to LMG, works well most of time, although depending on your gear sets and overall stats that doesn't make sense a lot of the time. This is better against larger mobs,

For smaller mobs and PVP I tend to use double AR with extended mags as I have 25%+ AR damage on top of 13% overall weapon damage.
Given most LMG rate of fire is so low.....
