I have Vampyre and Need for Speed on mine!?! Nope ignore me, it is PS Plus I am taking about, when you said for free I got confused there as I view PS Now as a rental package... (and yes I know the PS Plus is too as you have to pay but I man maths that as internet gaming....)
i just buy a cheap 12 month code from CD keys for PS Now and then just see all the games as free. OK, it works out at £2.91 a month but you get access to 800+ games, so basically peanuts. All ps4 games are downloadable as well, so no need for a constant internet connection.
Much better value than PS Plus.

Finished the last Horde earlier.
I really enjoyed this much more than expected.
Even though it has significant technical and gameplay issues, I still want to play it, and I'm a real fussy pants.
I may play RDR2 next, or horizon Zero Dawn, or, or, or....
If you enjoyed Days Gone, I recommend Horizon Zero Dawn, I enjoyed that too and it was quite similar with a great story behind it (they should make it a TV Show or Movie). With RDR2 I've gotten bored of it, I dip in now and then, but jut can't get into it for some reason.I really enjoyed this much more than expected.

Horizon Zero Dawn - ace
RDR2 - like you I got bored of it. I actually fell asleep playing it once.
I finished Ghost of Tsushima last night. That's another great game.
Days gone - got my first Platinum. So close to being a truly great game.
Horizon Zero Dawn - Now Finished (inc Frozen Wilds). Became an exercise in Inventory tetris as I found myself holding onto resources unnecessarily.
Started RDR2 - Got bored and turned off.
Might buy the Yakuza remastered collection.

This has gone down in my list of games to be played as I have bought the remastered Mafia trilogy which is epic.
Days Gone is way better than Mafia III, which I've been playing recently as it was free on PS+ a while ago. Mafia III is quite the little oddity; the dev team has put a HUGE amount of effort into the city, with some amazing details, a cracking soundtrack, and some real love into the scope and variety of the car models. And then it was let down by the missions, which are all "drive somewhere, kill a bunch of dudes, repeat". There is no variety at all. It also suffers, badly, from having un-skippable dialogue scenes. It's another nearly game, but misses the mark more than Days Gone IMO. Also, the medal system is broken in Mafia III on PS4 and fails to register achievements correctly.A bit late to the party but I've only just started playing this as it's on PS Now. Really enjoying so far and it does genuinely get the heart racing - playing in the dark on a projector with headphones on. I nearly papped myself the first time a wolf came out of nowhere knocked me off my bike
Sunk about 10 hours into this now and it’s definitely a grower. Similar to fallout 4 but not yet on anywhere near the same level for me. Maybe it needs more time.
Main frustration is the refuelling of the bike at times when you really don’t need an extra problem.
I’m hoping another couple of good sessions on it will convince me to see it through to the end

You can eventually upgrade the bike with bigger fuel tanks which negates a lot of this issue. Main frustration is the refuelling of the bike at times when you really don’t need an extra problem.

Very similar to FO4 in the respect of the open world which you can explore, but spend too long and you’ll ultimately get shafted, so stick to the story. Similar again in the way it starts out bloody hard but gets easier as you play, then you reach the crossover point where it becomes challenging but engrossing at the same time.
Seems to be a huge game to. At 10 hours I’m barely scratching the surface it would appear.
Definitely one I’ll see through to the end

It's big but it's not overly big in the same way that RDR2 is. RDR2 is mighty impressive in just how much content there is in the game, but by the time I'd got to 100% I couldn't go back to it.
Days Gone is about the right size to play it through again - if you New Game+ you can scamper through at a much faster rate even on a higher difficulty - I did Survival mode which takes away a few HUD features.

Well as promised I downloaded this on the PS5. I think it is great. It is not as good as Fallout 4 by any stretch (frankly very little can ever be IMHO).
I read above about Napalm etc? Not seen those yet.. Molotovs sure... I did however take on my first horde today, must have been about 50 of them. The double shotgun for close encounters and a few pipe bombs lobbed at an attractor was pretty entertaining.... Until the smoke cleared and there were still about 30 of them heading at me......Ruuuuuuuun...
I am finding it really enjoyable. It is, as these games always are, frustrating at the start as a zombie can pretty much fart in your general direction and kill you, but now I can fight 3-4 in melee (baseball bat with nails or blade anyone?) and generally survive.
Very much looking forward to getting more powerful bombs and someone above even said remotely detonating bombs? Awesome.....
But those ba**rd zombie wolves are annoying !!

How does it compare to last of us 2? Not finished it yet but looking for something to play next. Really love last of us so am hoping for something similar quality.
The Last of Us II is probably in my top 5 all time games and I don’t think Days Gone quite matches it. That being said Days Gone is still an excellent game. Completely different to Last of Us though as DG is completely open world whereas TLoU is quite linear. Probably just over half way through the storylines now.
Can honestly say I've not played many better games, FO4 and GTA probably being the only exceptions.
Takes a while to get used to the concept of not killing everything that moves. Once you get comfortable that zombies are just part of the landscape and are happy sailing past them on the bike everything kind of calms down a bit. Bandit gangs are a bit of a pain, getting hit by a sniper then set upon by a crowd when you're low on health/supplies and just about to make it to your designation sucks, I'm sure the game is set up to throw these situations at you at the most inappropriate times.
Not taken on any sizeable hoardes yet as I've not got the firepower - so I guess I've got that to look forward to once I discover better weapons/cocktails and upgrade the character further.
First game I've played since FO4 that I really look forward to playing again the next evening. It has a lot in common with FO4, in particular the character upgrades using skill points, and deciding which style you want to prioritise. Like F04 you can't have it all, especially early on, so it forces you to decide which kind of style suits you best and build on that. Upgrading weapons is another similarity.
Solid 8.5/10 so far with the potential to get even better.

Yes. Once you get a particular couple of weapons, you can pretty much take them on. There is a tactical way to get more kills quickly too. It is quite superb scouting the landscape and preparing your lines of attack..I am currently mopping up a couple of hordes, just have to hunt around for the materials to make the weapons..... And an extended mag for one gun too......
And yes I agree it is not as good as fallout but it is superb, really quite fun. That moment when you start a generator and discover you didn't get all the speakers, sheeeeeeeeeet.................

Just started playing this again on the PS5 - nice to be able to play without the fans on the console going crazy
It is rather something on the PS5....Amazing graphics boost, smooth fps and reasonable load times. It took me 3 attempts to get into this but so glad I came back to it on the PS5. One of my favourite PS4 games. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
