Nice. You got cut your cloth to suit your budget.

My wife was going on about moving house again. I CBA, but she should me one with a massive room about the garage and I did find myself thinking, could fit my flight sim in there.

Interesting ... Just done a small hop from Netherthorpe to Doncaster. I noticed when I undocked the ATC window and moved it to another screen my FPS jumped from around 88 to around 117...

Anyone got the T45? There’s some great red arrows liveries for it.

Just Flight are bringing out an actual Hawk T1 soon.
Their Piper Arrow looks awesome, but I would probably go with the T45 as I like India Foxt Echo stuff

Hope you laughed as I was skidding off the runway ! I will now I know you're local smile Used to fly from Netherthorpe when I was a kid. Still pop over now and then to watch them flying.

Yeah I’m sticking to the mb339, it’s great to hoon around in, and waiting for the B787 from quality wings which I think is coming in the summer, as the standard one isn’t going to get much love in the upgrade package.

I have bought the microlight and the piper Seminole as I’ve got a lot of hours in that and it’s pretty decent.

I’d likely be tempted by some helicopters and maybe some other seaplanes though.

There’s actually a lot in the store that temps me but I’m trying to wait until they’re on offer as it seems to happen now and then.
Yeah pretty much all my flying is in helicopters so I can't wait for them. Fire up some proper English gloom and creep about underneath it. Lovely stuff!

This one?

https://flightsim.to/file/8970/airbus-h135-helicop...

In low level flight its quite good but very difficult to control in advanced mode. I've tried it in VR and the outside world is very juddery when up high, to the point of feeling sick for the rest of the day.

- yes I have got everything back to normal again, my next step is a 3080 if they ever come down in price.

I have fond memmories of Netherthorpe, it was the first time I got to sit in a light aircraft, probably 30 years ago smile I'll probably visit it should I ever be allowed to take up my PPL...

FS2020 on the other hand gives me equal parts pain and pleasure. I keep getting hit by the blank screen bug after going through startup, which necessitates a flight restart. Irritating but then goes away.

Even worse I keep getting hit hard by the low performance bug. No matter where I am, my gpu won't go above 70% utilisation, or any one cpu core above about 75% either. The result is I never see more than about 15fps, the worst being stuck at 7fps at O'Hare when the gpu wouldn't budge above 20%. Very hard to land anything.

On the plus side I see the same performance when I throw everything onto ultra, so I do have the game looking oh so pretty instead biggrin

I had some great times at Netherthorpe and some memorable flights !

Not really had much chance to fly yet but it's certainly improved from my last install. I'm just getting upto speed on stuff. This site seems excellent : https://flightsim.to/

Performance has been goodso far around Sheffield / Donny with 85fps but jumping to around 117 after I discovered moving the ATC and Checklist windows to the other screen.

Only flying the 152 though i'm feeling pretty positive now i've put the experience of the Alpha / Beta behind me

You are not the only one - plenty of threads around with people having the same issue on all manner of hardware. Couple of suggestions are to turn off the AI air traffic and to reduce the terrain textures.

Loads of U.K. airports on promotion in the marketplace. Usually around 40% off

Dundee, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford

Plus orbx Sydney city plus some others

These promotions always tempt me Dundee? Yeah but it’s only £6 hehe

I did my flying scholarship at Dundee. I won't hear a word said against it. (OK, maybe 1 or 2)!

I thought Glasgow had Neds and Dundee have schemies like Edinburgh?

It’s not obvious from 1,000ft downwind in the circuit anyway. hehe

Dundee was home to the flying scholarship for many. For £6 you can relive that endless summer of flying.

Such a shame that finished, it was an amazing scheme. I meet so no any people that benefited from it. In my day we went to biggin hill first for selection then you got just under the ppl free and had to pay for the last few hours I think.

My ATC / Checklist always start open on the second monitor, and I leave them open. Turns out if I close them, my on the ground FPS went from 13 to 29! In the air is a lot smoother now as well. So that's my fps fixed, I just probably need to take it off Ultra to gain some more hehe

Yeah it was great., my first time away from home properly. I did mine in 1995, I went to Cranwell for the assessment centre and then Dundee for the flying, we did 20 hours as they had not long cut down from the (40?) it used to be. I was lucky enough to be one of the few on our course to fly the then brand new DV-20 instead of a C152. A couple of years ago we dropped into Wolverhampton for some fuel and I saw the not-quite-so-brand-new plane I went solo in, tucked away in a hangar. Quite a moment for me!
