I guess it will be popular with pilots seeing as they'll be stacking shelves in the future.....too soon? wink

I've been waiting for this , for a while, it looks stunning hope my PC is up to the job.......of rendering the start menu.

Most U.K. airlines are making lots of pilot redundancies at the moment. Quite a few PHers are in the firing line. I hope I’ll keep my job and my home but any of us made redundant won’t find another flying job for years.

So your jokes about it aren’t appreciated tbh.

So if you want Heathrow, probably one of the top 5 airports in the world , you have to pay $120.

What a bloody joke!

Annoying there is only 1 detailed UK airport in there, and that's in the expensive edition, although the default looks awesome anyway

A bit weird since there's 40,000 other airports to play with. I could easily live with saving half the cost and just about managing without 5 of them. Perhaps these are hyper detailed.

Cannae wait for this and I'm pleased it's so soon.

Maybe so.

Does anyone also know, if they will have the same types of missions that they had on Flight Sim X, where you had to do a short hop with a Movie star, deal with engine failure, similar etc etc?

I found the missions added some purpose to the game and also helped train those of us who aren't actual pilots laugh

Hasn’t it got most airports in decent detail, just those ones mentioned will be in even more detail?

I certainly hope it's either on Steam or Microsoft sort out their bullst system of being unable to transfer downloaded files. 150 gb will take me a few days to download.

I feel a little pi$$ed off ... Couple of things .. 7 Enhanced US airports in the standard version and no UK airports .. Want one ? Heathrow. £110 please..

Also I must have put 200+ hours into testing the Alpha including bug reports etc ...

It now looks like the in house testing maybe months in advance of the Alpha they gave us ..... WTF Is that about ? They just sit back and watch us waste time on stuff that in all probability was sorted weeks or months before... Leaves a bad taste ..

I suggest you develop a thicker skin if you're forced to live in the real world at any point soon.

Genuine but naïve question.

Once you take off you fly to your chosen airport and land. Are the distances and time shortened?

Once you get to your said airport, then what? What is the principle of the game?

Genuinely not taking the p1ss, am curious.

That's what I'm confused by, too. I thought you could take off and land at any airport, otherwise how did all the journalists who reported flying over their house get there in the time they had with it?

The fun is different for different people, some just like flying around, some like flying from place to place. Some are using it as a training aid to their flying lessons, some pilots use it for practice before sims etc.

There’s all sorts of attractions.

The other month at work a passenger I was talking to was telling me he’s in a virtual airline (of the one I worked for) that flies our real airline schedules in real time.

Some flight sims have missions or training lessons etc you can do.

For me it’s just the hooning around that I enjoy. I’d just take off and keep doing flybys and aerobatics and trying to land on different things or fly under a bridge or whatever etc.

Others take it more seriously though.

So the principle of the game is much like the principle of actually flying, fun, learning something new, exploring etc.

Most of the airports in the world are there just that the ones on the list are in slightly better detail.

I expect you can put in any position and altitude etc to start at, not just an airport.

I guess those listed above will have lots of animations, people, airport vehicles running about, full operations like a real airport and all perfectly modelled in the right positions and finely textured just like the real thing whilst non-premium ones with be very detailed but with less going on, some less important buildings missing or using library models/textures but still looking good.

That’s what the video reviews etc seem to indicate

Presumably also third party companies will produce extra detailed airports and aircraft etc as they have previously
