So this hot fix, 10 minutes ago I thought I'll just have a quick look where it is, nothing in the game so I opened the microsoft store, just as I pressed the close X on th store something started to download but I already pressed it. I go back into the store to see what it is and it says there was a problem with FS and I need to re-install it.

So there we are. No more flight sim on my PC again looking at the C drive its as if it was never there, 200gb of data wiped out in the blink of an eye. I didn't have time to back up my community folder of 50gb this time either so thats gone again.
Once the Microsoft store is downloading if you Pause the download or i assume, Interrupt the download by exiting the store the program will uninstall, I tried to pause my download on the store earlier and got that warning so i had to carry on and install the update, Thankfully it is all working ok for me.

Right well this is the last I will say on this subject, I've messed around with it all day today, read loads of threads and altered many things. Whilst it loads in fine and runs fine without any crashes that is its only good point.

I can't comment on what 2D flying is like and this might well be 10 times better than it was before but that isn't what interests me, I got it solely for VR flying. All I can say is whatever they have done since the update the resolution and level of detail must have dropped 50 or 60% and no matter what I do with the settings including altering the config file it wont go any better than how I've got it at the moment.

I've tried to take a picture of what its like through the lens but as you can imagine it hasn't worked out too well and this is the best I can get but you can clearly see that the LOD of the terrain is terrible even though its a bit blurred. As for the grass and trees, its like an 8 bit arcade game.

The supposed buildings even a mile or so in the distance are just a few pixels, you can't even make out the airport on a clear day until you are a couple of mile away. It was 100 times better than this before the update. Imagine playing a game on a PS5 and then playing it on a PS3, this is what its like.

Its not just me either, VR forums are full of people complaining of the same thing, I've no idea what Asobo were thinking of but its pissed off a hell of a lot of people.

Spent some of the day doing circuits at the airfield I’ve been taking flying lessons from and in the same plane too, still playing on controller whilst I wait for my Thrustmaster Hotas One to arrive. That’ll do me until the Turtle Beach VelocityOne comes out that I’ve signed up for pre order alerts for.

Nice!

Loads of smaller airfields now have updates in the store which you can often get in the sale for a £5 or so.

I downloaded this on to my Xbox Series X the other day, it was certainly amusing for 15 minutes or so.

I moved to consoles years ago because I got fed up of constantly fixing PCs, but VR dragged me back and I've not, as yet, had any issues with this.
Now occulus has released airlink it works really well wirelessly, and with fewer drop outs than I had with the cable.
Finally cracked and bought the flyingirons spitfire, which is really very good indeed, rather "interesting" to get off the ground though! Performance seems better too, I've turned more of the graphical knobs up and it seems to handle it just fine.

I have finally, after a fking WEEK, downloaded this bloody game! Get it done,at a magnificent 1 MegaBITS/s, and then the world updates still need done! Lost count of the number of restarts/reboots.
I still have to d,l the payware & freeware I had, but Im going away for a week now, no doubt to return to it all having gone again banghead
For their premier gaming product, Microsoft sure make it a PITA

New floats and skis are great for the Cessna. Tried to taxi under a bridge on the Thames but it still sensed a crash. Think it might be the add on London scenery that’s a bit too solid underneath?

Seems like big performance improvements and the photometry scenery seems to load faster with the same internet also?

Since the last time I played this some sort of patch has been released. Now I get about 10 seconds through booting the game and it just crashes to the desktop with no error.

Great.

I've been playing this on Xbox series X and I must say it's rather good. It hasn't crashed (though I have many times) and it looks gorgeous. I've completed all the landing challenges which was quite fun, also done a few successful flights from place to place in various weather conditions and at various times of day. Downloading it took about a week, I've now upgraded to 500+Mb fibre as a consequence.

It's a great game to play with a cup of tea and snacks, just stick on the autopilot and watch the scenery go by in between death defying landing attempts of inappropriate aircraft on tiny runways.

I bought the Spitfire and I have absolutely zero regrets. It’s quite nice to fly but even nicer look at!

I pulled the big red lever earlier too which I have no idea what its purpose is for… I thought it may have been the parking brake before I saw the parking brake move and read ‘emergency only’ on the lever I pulled! Slight panic moment!

Pause the video at 14 seconds and read the sign above the lever.

Download the DCS guide to Spitfires, it has a really useful guide to what's what in the cockpit.
