I've ended up buying the just flight Hawk. No idea what I'm doing but I'm enjoying cocking around in it! I can successfully leave Leeming, buzz my house near Skipton, touch and go at Leeds Bradford and back to Leeming 😂

I got the track IR head tracker thing, like it, works well.

Need to learn more about navigation 😂

Downloaded the Australia world update VII on pc, tried flying around Melbourne but the graphics were the same, tried to run a flight from "discovery flight section " but says something needs update you click on update but get an error message on all the Australia discovery flights even though I have downloaded the update.

The fix is to Not go via "Content Manager" but go to the Fsim Home Screen then home/marketplace/worldupdates you will see the Aus stuff and need to download the free photometric scenery even though you have already d/l the World update VII.

To reiterate, You will need to go Home/Marketplace/World Updates and download a few more 'Free' to 'Get' scenery updates.

Bendigo still looks st no Cathedral or Deborah Gold Mine that I can see, though still messing around with my pc setup.

Yeah you have to buy the update for nothing then do the update.

Haven’t checked bendigo but I think the Australia update is generally awesome. Possibly the best yet.

Spain/Portugal next in March!

Just downloading Bankstown a/p which is on offer

I recall flying circuits there as being interesting due to having three parallel runways

Yeah I got that too. Flew in there from parafield the day after I got my PPL. Was bit of a mission! Not sure I’m going to relive the whole thing in FS2020

Loads of good Australian airports in the Aussie sale.

The AUscene airports are all particularly good. Lord howe island is fantastic but obviously it’s a bit remote to fly to.

Just had a quick fly around just headed north of Melbourne the topographical scenery is beautiful now it really does look like how I remembered it.
Had my first crash to desktop and that was after reducing graphic detail from 4k to whatever is the next setting down, my rtx2060 graphics card is maxed out but my AMD Ryzen 9 5900X cpu is ticking along just fine bags of headroom.

I really need to sort my throttle settings out. I made some adjustments to a file after an update that broke the A320. The problem is the changes affect every airplane and it cocks up all the others.

The A320 addon now configures the throttles differently and I don't need my changes. But I can't remember what I changed, where it lives, and what the settings are. Even reinstalling from scratch has not helped. It's backed up my files somewhere...

And breath.

Either an X or an S will do. Needs to be one of those two as they are the only ones that will play it. I play it on an Xbox S with the normal Xbox controller.

Same here, Xbox X with the normal controller. You can buy a cheap joystick with throttle for about £80 if you desire. Works really well the game, sadly my Xbox blew up and is being replaced/fixed as I write (make sure it is VERY well ventilated.

Will the S do 4K? Thats the one thing he keeps banging on about (despite sitting about 3m from the screen without his glasses on!)

I thought you couldn't unlock instruments in this version and move them to new Windows but you can.

That's saved me months of work writing my own G1000 display. My graphics card can support 4 monitors so two main monitors and two g1000s. Want to replace the two mains with an ultrawide 49" curved. But according to the FD its not in budget. What is the saying about beg forgiveness and not ask permission!!

I've printed a bunch of switch panels for a Piper DA62. Going to mount them on a frame this weekend. Then start printing and building the G1000s.

ETA - spoke too soon. Laptop only has 2 ports.

I don't have the latest Xbox but do have an Xbox 1X which doesn't have the power to run FS2020, i run off my pc at 4k with GamePass the PC game looks gorgeous.

The other day I noted that I could Cloud Based stream play on my Xbox gave it a try loaded up quicker than my PC and it was a really enjoyable experience looked pretty good to me, didn't seem stuttery same for viewing around the cockpit. not sure what resolution it was streamed at but i was impressed.

I flew around Sydney with real weather it was bucketing down and seemed no different to my PC, for some reason it did not draw Sydney Harbour Bridge but most of everything else was there.

On moving to external view I would get like a horizontal refresh line as the data redrew the plane and same occasionally with the scenery when looking in a different direction.

What yo do need is a good internet connection mines a bit flakey I get anywhere between 30-60 Mbps over WiFi I'm sure it would be better over network cable or a solid WIFI signal. Well worth a try if you don't have newest Xbox.

I got some of the FS Academy lessons VFR and IFR and the bush trips and recommend all of them.

Seafront sims boats SE U.K. and the Caribbean one are pretty great

The lvfr static aircraft adds realistic parked aircraft to many (main) airports around the world

This is the coverage https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1EslTNLmtAg...

Plus loads of airports and some aircraft like the mbb

Today I’ve been doing the Greek tour from perfect flight which is pretty good but the imagery hasn’t been updated.

Most of these I got in sales, that happen fairly often on the marketplace.

Have you done any of the in game bush trips or isn’t that your thing?

I guess the must haves depend on what you like doing in the game?

I’d always check the reviews on YouTube etc (or ask here) first though as there’s some rubbish out there amd loads of aircraft that look good but are unfortunately a bit pants.

If the Hawk and Piper Arrow III are on the Xbox market place they are very good. The Hawk may not be as it has weapons

Anyone looking for a study level dirt cheap vintage airliner? Wing42 have just released the Boeing 247, I bought it off their website last night for £14.67p!! Plenty of good reviews on youtube, This should really be in the £40+ price department but apparently the devs are trying a new approach at pricing cheaply to generate more sales, I've yet to fly it but it looks absolutely beautiful in my hanger, You can sort of sense where the B17 came from! Heres a good insight into it:
