What resolution are the monitors? Mainly the 32.
3440 by 1440 for the 34, the others are much less.

I would keep your eyes on a 4070 when the new generation launches. Likely to be around £500 but deliver the power of a 3090, which is really geared for 4k but you could increase any quality settings you haven't and get high frames at 1440p. Obvs a 4080 will be better dependant on price etc..

Today RTX 3080/RX 6800XT upwards but I'd wait, if you can wait till January (possibly)

The new version of this is about to drop, with speech recognition

https://www.pointsoftware.de/

TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2020 PREPAR3D And FSX-SE

Introduction Pro-ATC/SR is the most complete Air Traffic Control (ATC) add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Prepar3D and FSX. We believe that Pro-ATC/SR will take Air Traffic Control to the next level. SR stands for Speech Recognition. Please note that you do not have to use Speech Recognition. You may continue using the keyboard keys and controller buttons for communication with controllers and your virtual copilot. Whether you like flying the heavies, such as the 747 or the Airbus 340 or turboprops, Pro-ATC/SR is ready for you. Pro-ATC/SR provides the appropriate controllers who give you the current weather, clearances, taxi instructions, take-off clearances, ascent and descent clearances, vectors to the active runway, clearances to land, ground clearances, and traffic calls for any aircraft in your flight path. Pro-ATC/SR allows you to fly dynamically assigned Departure Procedures, will accurately handle emergencies, allow you the option to file and fly specific approaches, practice those approaches, and fly to your alternate airport when the weather is below minimums. Pro-ATC/SR also supports an in-flight change of destination to any airport in the world. Pro-ATC/SR will also move AI before they become a conflict, slow or speed up AI planes while you are on final, and freeze ground traffic so they do not cause runway incursions Pro-ATC/SR is as close an approximation of what real pilots experience as is currently possible. Pro-ATC/SR is a program that runs with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Prep3D and even FSX. Load FS, create or load an already prepared flight plan and away you go

Yeah, might do, not been on FS2020 and to be honest with you a PC using a kwh per hour with the recent energy prices has got me wondering.

I've downloaded quite a few add ons now, favourite so far is the JU57 - a real pleasure to bumble about it. (Spent quite some time trying to get under the Clifton suspension bridge!)

The Hawk T1 seems a bit of a let down... simple doesn't roll or pitch how I would imagine. (I'm no pilot, and playing on a controller...but even so)

The F35B is brilliant though - recommend downloading that and having a go at landing/take-off from Price of Wales.

The Russian Sukhoi Su-57 (the baddie plane from new Top Gun film, fyi) is my go-to jet fighter for a bit of fun. Haven't downloaded (bought!) the F35 yet but that might be next.

This does look amazing on my SX- but does bug out quite a bit, especially in bad weather. Definitely helps having good internet. I took the Top Gun stealth thing up to 250,000 feet… pretty fun!

Despite the power of the SX I’m sure the console version of the game is quite limited compared to the PC version.

I'm hoping for a V-bomber add-on.

Pretty certain this was available in a British aircraft pack for FS2000... so expecting good things with 20years progress tongue out

Limited how so? Performance is pretty good on the Xbox Series X if that's what you mean, but it's annoying that the offerings of add-ons is very limited compared to the PC install.

There's a £9 weather add-on pack which is excellent, gives you loads of pre-set weather options and very detailed.

It’s more all the things that require sim connect (external apps to be able to communicate with the Xbox which is a closed system at the moment due to security worries) like littlenavmap or navigraph or missions etc. plus all the free dlc in flightsim.to

Can anyone recommend a HOTAS device for a casual Flight-Simmer on PC? We moved house recently, and at the moment just don't have space to play with my current Logitech yoke and throttle quadrant.

This Thrustmaster looks ideal and is only £60.

Cheers
That's the one I've had for a couple of weeks. Compared to using the Xbox controller, it's night and day. Good value.

There are youtube videos that will help you tweak the settings.

Related note - how do I trigger the hook when landing on the carrier?
I use that too, and for Elite Dangerous as well.
Thanks both - I'll get one ordered.
Got this yesterday and really impressed with it - thanks.

Quick question - as I've just returned from Crete I decided to do a flight from Athens to Heraklion!

I used the flight planner tool and set the departure and arrival airports, which then set me a flight path. However, the approach was really 'tight' and not what is taken in real life. Hard to explain, but I'd need to be doing a 90 degree turn really close to the runway if I followed the flight path.

Am I expecting too much or doing something wrong?

I've got loads to learn still I think.

I can't remember the exact name of the options off the top of my head, I'll check later but, you can select different routes onto the approach rather than the default.

The drop downs appear next to the departure and destination drop downs on the world map once you have changed it from VFR to IFR.

Started typing out a huge post to explain how to set a flight route and using IFR for a realistic approach but then found this, which explains it perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiaDG5HWBHU

Not played for a bit and of course massive update , see MS still havent sorted their download speeds out. Taking ages, I have a gigabit connect should be minutes.

It's the need for the game to be running for it to update that always annoys me, running the CPU/GPU hard for a long time just for a download. The only way to reduce load is to run the game in a window and reduce it's size to minimum.

Thanks Gents - got it sorted now. Loads to learn!

Is anyone using multiple monitors or other devices (tablet/phone) for maps or views/controls? Having the GPS map thing on an iPad would be great.

On a pc you can do that using sim connect. And a brilliant mapping app called little nav map.

Unfortunately there’s no way at the moment to have external apps connected to the game on Xbox.
