What's the best fighter jet?
I've been building a sim for the Diamond DA62 that I need to finish but I would also like to build something for a fighter plane.
F18 seemed obvious choice, but the one in the game is pretty basic. Hardly any of the switches are operational.
F35 would be easy as the cockpit is one massive screen. The darkstar one is also quite easy.
My company has been taken over and my department massively scaled back into a maintenance mode. I have much less work to do and a retainer to sit out so need something to keep me busy.

The F35 is good,as you say. The Hawk T.1 from Just Flight is very good, as is the MB335 I have all of those, plus the F-104 & Areitalia (sp?) G91. The first 3 are my favourites, especially the Hawk.
I've heard good things about the F-15, it started poorly but seems to have improved. The F-18s for the SIM, I agree, are basic.
But if it's super duper realism you want, go DCS.

Yeah the F35 cockpit would be easy as there isn't endless parts to 3d print / CNC. Someone has already designed the HOTAS files for it which is good as my skills are very much on the software side and find the 3D design hard.I've heard good things about the F-15, it started poorly but seems to have improved. The problem with Fxx planes (and the Typhoon) is its hard to source square screens. F35 is easier might go for a slightly smaller screen though.

Series X - yes. It has its troubles and glitches but is still very good.
That's an understatement. Over 50% of my flights crash (console, that is!) when I'm approx. 1 minute away from touchdown. I'll be on final approach and hooked perfectly on the glideslope and just know it's going to be a good landing, the game begins to lag and stutter then the screen goes black and it goes back to the Xbox home screen. At this point, I usually swear loudly and want to throw the controller at the screen. It makes no difference as to what plane I'm using or the weather (pre-set or live) or location. I initially thought it was because I had all traffic and weather set to live, and was in a busy area such as Heathrow or LAX etc. and thus the connection couldn't cope, but it seems unrelated to any particular situation.
I always force quite at that point in case there's a corrupted file somewhere, and fully shutdown the console and restart but alas, it will crash again in future.

Well after all this time I'm finally sold. Purchased the PMDG 737-600 and it's totally superb just finished a flight from Doncaster to Edinburgh.
My problem was thinking the default aircraft were crap well not thinking they are crap. Little Cessnas are OK but that's it. Not enjoyed a Flight Simulator flight as much since my old Dreamfleet 737-400 days.

Doncaster has been released by a developer.
GSX gives ground loading.
Pro ATC/sr gives decent ATC unless you go down the vatsim route.
