biggrin You could always have stuck with Google Earth.
I love the 3D bits indeed. There ain't very many of them though. I want to crash into trees and buildings around the entire world. And their flight simulator doesn't do it for me.
I'm aware I'm starting to sound like a broken VR record, but Google Earth in VR is genuinely amazing. Yes, there is only a small part of the globe with 3D buildings, but for those areas... wow. It's hard to describe but I was genuinely emotional the first time I used it. Just reaching up and grabbing the sun to drag it to the horizon for some nice sunset effects genuinely makes you feel like a God. If you are more interested in the earth than the flying I highly recommend you try it out.
Is that the google earth flight sim in VR or just using google earth in VR?

If got a oculus quest so might give it a go.

Even in the quest there’s a google street view app which is very immersive.

If you haven't tried it yet then it's a must. I think the flight sim is flat screen only, but the way you move in VR feels like flying anyway.

For me at least that alone justifies owning a headset. It's incredible. You'll need to run if off a PC via Oculus Link.

Spent all day rewiring my desk, putting my new triple monitor stand up and generally sorting out the mess. Am now ready with the best desk/screen setup for FS 2020 that I can also use for work during the day.

Now need to see if my PC can stand it, its four years old and wasnt a mega spec then but has coped with everything this far.

I5 6600K with a bit of an overclock
Nvidia 1060 6GB
16 GB ram
Plenty of SSD spare

If it cant hack it, if not what would you chaps be looking at, well out of the game PC specs wise ?

Happy to throw a few quid at it but really intrigued to see how my old one copes, bearing in mind will not be going 4k

Has anyone pre-ordered for PC yet?
I can get the basic version via my M$ Game Pass, anyone know if it can be pre-downloaded with that,as I won't be shelling out extras?

Depends on monitor resolution and refresh rate (desired fps). Treat yourself to a second hand 8700k and 1080ti. You won't need to change the motherboard.

It'll run lovely then and you can sell on the 1060 and 6600k to recoup some of the upgrade cost

Doesnt seem much cheaper at £600 to £700 for those parts, amazed how much older video cards go for. Wouldn't it be a bit of a blind alley buying secondhand versions of the highest spec chips ?

Indeed, current plan is install, faff about setting it up (PC game) then see what it plays like.

If its st on mine, buy new pc.

The FS message groups are full of people buying very high spec kit to play this, I have never had anything on mine that has troubled it and it looks pretty low spec nowadays, it wasnt that high when new to be fair but seemed to hit the price/performance sweet spot, or at least the point that most stuff was happy at.

Quite happy to spend a grand, plus whatever I get for the old stuff, but if I dont need to, I wont. Part of my reticence is it being a massive faff redoing it all, spent all Saturday re configuring my monitors, desk, cabling etc.

I am intrigued however by the use of Ipads as flight displays, but, one step at a time.

And then an Elgato stream deck with custom buttons.

You Git, didnt know they existed, now am deciding on which one biggrin

Blokes like stuff with many buttons, its the law.

Though might be cool to do some stuff with an Arduino interfaced to the PC.

Gigabit internet is being installed on 17th August, just in time for the enormous download, and the need for a fast internet connection for maps in all its glory.

Holding off on buying a new screen until the 3080ti comes out. Will just have to play using my 2070 and current 4k screen.

Looking forward to this myself, purely from a casual perspective, having played Flight Sim way back when (couldn't tell you the version but a good 25+ years ago). Remember playing lots of Stunt Island back in the day too.

For me whilst I'll enjoy flying around a few choice spots such as the Grand Canyon and so-on I'm also glad to see they've put some scenarios in, both tutorials and landing challenges, I'm hoping there will be some other ones such as flying under all the bridges around NYC.

Nice feature here from Eurogamer on it:

and some clarification on what the higher-tier editions give you:

I'm definitely considering it too but I ended up with a Quest purely because it was the only one that would fit over my massive head, plus it was one of the few with enough IPD.

I really hope they manage to accommodate the dimensionally disabled.

Reviews of FS2020 have come out in a surge in the last couple of hours. Lots of wonder is being expressed.

I know there's no info at the moment, but are we expecting keyboard/mouse support on Xbox Series X to allow for a bit of a hybrid between the console and PC experience?

There's certain things that I just can't imagine any way you could do with a gamepad, or even if you could, would be so cumbersome as to be unenjoyable.

I doubt they'd want to 'pollute' the Xbox with that but if they want it to become the centre of everyone's entertainment you do kind of need it at times.
