Don't forget some state of the art headphones as well. biggrin
Buy the Microsoft Bluetooth headphones...they support all the series x features and are only £40 iirc.

Availability is challenging going though...I ended up using Amazon, who shipped them from Spain.

On the subject of headphones make sure they are compatible with the Dolby Atmos app, got a good set for Christmas which seemed a little quiet until I downloaded the app.

Really transforms games and Netflix smile

Quick question - do the controllers use AA batteries like the XBox One, or are they rechargeable like the Playstation?

Considering getting son a new Xbox but want to know whether an additional pad is worth it / necessary.

https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/accessories/batteries-chargers/play-and-charge-kit

I use this, wire is long enough that even when its low I can play plugged in, I then leave it plugged in when the Xbox is off and it charges ready for next session

Not a fan of gaming or just don't like Xbox.
Have you tried gamepass?

You can also run emulators on it, like Wii, N64 if you fancy retro action.

I use it alot for 4k films. It really offers a lot of choice.

This is what I do with my Series S controller. I use 2400 mAh rechargable AA batteries most of the time and occasionally a USB-C cable when they run out and I haven't got any to hand.

Same as me. Got it to play FH4/5 predominately but I’m finding it hard to enjoy compared to my PS5. Just not a fan of the ecosystem or joypad. Think main problem is I just don’t have time for 2 systems.

Am I right in thinking Xbox S/X only supports 16:9 displays and if you use an ultrawide monitor it either stretches the edges to fill the screen or you get a 16:9 display with nothing either side?

From what I can find, that's right. Native 21:9 isn't supported, so what's on screen will stretched to fit, scale up or be 16:9 with black bars. Same deal with the PS5. It's probably a software thing that they (MS and Sony) could do in the future, but games would probably have to be updated too. PS5 has had software updates for 1440p and better SSD support, so 21:9 could be a thing if they wanted to, but might be too small a market for them to bother with now.

Thanks so no real reason to go for a PC monitor, just a big 4K TV at 100hz?

Do not just get any big 4k TV. You've got input lag to consider, hdmi 2.0 required etc. I went for an LG one with 1ms input lag. You actually notice the difference compared to an old screen. It actually just shoots when you shoot and low and behold I win most gun fights probably because I'm shooting faster.

Noted. Just helping the old man build a shopping list for his flight sim.

The LG C1 model (think the C2 is out now too) is current go to gaming TV at the moment imo. Should be more than enough and if you do venture into the FPS world also.

I've just got myself an Xbox X. Not had an Xbox since GTA V came out. Bit of an impulse buy. There are loads of games on Xbox Game Pass that look good as well!

I've just started ME1 myself - played it a bit in the 360 days but never got around to getting very far. So far I'm quite impressed with Legendary Edition on the XSX
