Quick question - do the controllers use AA batteries like the XBox One, or are they rechargeable like the Playstation?
Considering getting son a new Xbox but want to know whether an additional pad is worth it / necessary.
they use AA but can be plugged in to usb without any battery or you can get the rechargeable battery for them Considering getting son a new Xbox but want to know whether an additional pad is worth it / necessary.

I use this, wire is long enough that even when its low I can play plugged in, I then leave it plugged in when the Xbox is off and it charges ready for next session

Have you tried gamepass?
You can also run emulators on it, like Wii, N64 if you fancy retro action.
I use it alot for 4k films. It really offers a lot of choice.

This is what I do with my Series S controller. I use 2400 mAh rechargable AA batteries most of the time and occasionally a USB-C cable when they run out and I haven't got any to hand.D1on said:

Same as me. Got it to play FH4/5 predominately but I’m finding it hard to enjoy compared to my PS5. Just not a fan of the ecosystem or joypad. Think main problem is I just don’t have time for 2 systems. Is ebay best?

Am I right in thinking Xbox S/X only supports 16:9 displays and if you use an ultrawide monitor it either stretches the edges to fill the screen or you get a 16:9 display with nothing either side?
From what I can find, that's right. Native 21:9 isn't supported, so what's on screen will stretched to fit, scale up or be 16:9 with black bars. Same deal with the PS5. It's probably a software thing that they (MS and Sony) could do in the future, but games would probably have to be updated too. PS5 has had software updates for 1440p and better SSD support, so 21:9 could be a thing if they wanted to, but might be too small a market for them to bother with now.ajprice said:
