I think they are heading more towards a PC gaming style format and away from the media lifestyle accessory for the lounge type thing... at least thats the impression i guess.

I also imagine its that shape so that they can throw a huge fan in the top for cooling.
Ah, if that’s the target market then fair enough.
It’ll rule me out though - if I wanted to game on my PC I would, but I like the accessibility of a console on the TV somehow (maybe it’s just that the sofa is a nicer place to sit than my desk!) and my TV screen is a decent size so I can sit a comfortable distance away without straining my ageing eyes!

Even if it can, it still looks pretty big given most will be wanted to be fitted in TV cabinet units etc.
Going by the drive slot and controller in the same picture, a few sites have said it's about 6" / 150mm square by 12" / 300mm high. Microsoft have said it will run horizontally, they have just shown it vertically in the pictures.

Looks a bit of a lump of a brick ??

I suspect I will stick to the Playstation 5.. Not for any good reason but just because that is what I always have bought!

Better than a Welly boot remover tongue out

Fair enough though, if you've bought into Sony for the games, it'll be nice to have them all on backward compatibility.

I think this will work much better for me stood up on my black desk, it will sit perfectly next to the telly.

I'm in for one.

Same here really, except I’m in the Xbox camp.

In part it is also because friends have Playstations which means online gaming............

I think it looks ok it now really is an Xbox if a bit oblong .... Doesn’t look like it will fit under my telly though like the current One X.

My recent pc upgrade has rekindled my interest in all things pc and I’ve not touched the Xbox in a few months now although I still have tons of games to play. I’ve said I won’t preorder but I bet I won’t be able to help myself.

One thing I’ll not be doing is preordering through Amazon that was a nightmare. I ended up driving to a nearby town and collecting my one X in person from Argos.

Funny how my PC has a 2070 Super and I’m playing CMANO which you could probably run on a Trident SVGA card !

But what does it actually do that's better? The usual slightly better graphics and ensuring that non of your existing controllers will work with it?

Also, I don't see how it will affect Christmas sales. I'd maybe hold off on a one x in favour of this, but even then, this is likely to be in a different price league. For the people still buying the one s, this isn't even in the same ball park. I can't see many people thinking 'I'll not buy that £100 one s now because the £400 replacement is coming out in 12 months time.

Xbox One controllers, original and newer Bluetooth ones, will work with Series X

It is trying to do away with all loading times and being able to hit 60fps at 4k, which you would really notice.

Yeah it's running an NVMe SSD which should make a massive difference. I have a Samsung 970 Pro in the new build. Lets hope it's at least 1Tb anything less is going to be a waste of time....

I guess I'll preorder this for release day and I'll pick up a PS5 at some point too. Xbox is my primary gaming platform because my friends play there and I feel it works better as a gaming platform than the PS4. All of the different consoles have their merits and exclusive games so they're all worth having imo.

AMD show an image of the rear ports, then admit it's a fake image made from a Turbosquid model rendering and that it isn't the rear of the Series X. Awkward.

It will have a USB on the front though.

Looks like next Thursday May 7th at 16.00 is the big reveal with real gameplay ,then we see what it can do . I think Sony might have lost the battle for now .. I've been a PS user from the start but did have an Xbox and liked it many years ago , Following it closely as i really love flight sims and want FS2020 without the hassle of a PC .

Same here, i had a PS1 back in the day and the wife bought me an Xbox One a few years ago for Christmas one year, i ummed and ahhed over the PS4 and Xbox One as i was looking at No Man's Sky* but she surprised me with that and Forza 5. Haven't looked at PS since and i'll upgrade to an Xbox X in a couple of years possibly.

* Never did get that game as i had a good look at it and it's not for me.

I'll likely pick up one of them on or near launch and the other later on, but it's the games that are the most important. Not going to be spending £600 to make my One games look slightly better.

The difference between the PS5 and PS4 is looking like a huge leap with some games looking almost cinematic (it is claimed) and with an SSD to reduce load screens to almost zero (allegedly)... I am just desperate to see if Fallout 5 appears on the PS5....

Smart delivery is a brilliant new technology for the Lionheart and scarlet.

Scarlet = Xbox series x
Lionheart = Xbox series S (replacing directly the Xbox one x)
