Are any launch day games exclusive to the next gen consoles? Or are all the games playable on the xbox one?...

It’s possible some parents may have bought the wrong one through nativity, hopefully not many and hopefully if error has been made refund can be received.

Ea play is getting added into the xbox game pass in "holiday 2020" so if you are going to get that you might as well just buy ea play for 1 month to get Fifa then it will be free the following month for us game pass people.
Game pass etc confuses me is there a list of games on it/coming?

I need to shift my Xbox One S and am considering trading it in and spending the money on a year of Ultimate Game Pass assuming I'll get Fifa and Halo on the Series X and maybe Valhalla from a post earlier in the thread

That seems hugely worth it even if it was only those games am I missing something? Can you buy 12 months worth in one hit or have to drip it?

Basically microsoft own like 15 game studios now so all games produced by them will be hitting the gamepass. They also will have the EA play games included in it.

https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-game-pass/games

Currently there are 249 items on console, some of which are xbox 360 games. This is yet to add in the new Bethesda/Obsidian titles such as skyrim and fallout as well as the EA stuff.

"More than 15 million people now subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, which is extra impressive since the service only surpassed 10 million subscribers back in April"

I can only see this number going through the roof as more and more AAA games hit it for a very affordable price.

Cdkeys offer a 12 month code for £99.

https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-mo...
Perfect thanks, I'll probably be trading in the console to game who only look to do 3 months ones but I'll definitely get it sorted looks great

Strange. On Ea play it says you get Fifa 21 early but only 10 hours of gameplay? Not too sure what the deal with it is now!
That's cool I buy FIFA every year so can buy it for the One S and upgrade it for free in November

It's mainly working out the best way to use the trade in money I'll get for the S which I think will be on Ultimate as then I'll get Halo and other stuff for the X without shelling out £60 a pop

Both my current consoles are 500Gb and I've managed fine the only struggle was COD and that got deleted as they were taking the utter piss in the end, suspect it's a non problem for a good while as Slow says

What's going to be your first game you play (once the inevitable log on issues, updates etc. have passed after the servers have been hammered)?

I can't decide. I'm probably only going to get one release title and Cyberpunk 2077. I think it'll be between Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion but then again, Dirt 5 looks like good fun...
Valhalla, haven't played Horizon 4 yet so will probably DL that as well and then maybe some Gears

Probably overkill me buying one as I currently only really play rocket league and BF5....but I took the plunge anyway on the basis I can sell my OneX just before xmas period and I’ll probably end up buying one at some point so why not early on... man maths at work :-)

Are there any guides as to what tv capabilities are needed to make the most of the new hardware?

I’m currently using Sony 49xf9005 4k with hdr10 but have no idea whether it’ll be able to make use of the new tech?
I think that'll be fine for now, I'm on an LG OLED which is probably similar spec

Xbox have license for Dolby Vision and Atmos which I suspect they'll utilise but think that's HDR 10 or 10+ under another name anyway

I already have a games pass ultimate subscription, and I have the cash there for the console, and valhalla won't be on gamespass, so I have to buy it.
Just on this and at risk of awakening Beetlejuice

If I got 3 months of Ultimate today would it auto transfer to the Series X do you know? Or is the redemption against a console?

Theres a trick at the moment where if you use the £1 upgrade to gamepass ultimate it transfers all your existing xbox live into gamepass. Meaning you can buy up to the maximum 36 months of xbox live then pay £1 to change it all into gamepass ultimate.

https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-mo...

3 years worth is £135 compared to the cost for ultimate of around £400 for the same 3 years.

Edit: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3404524/get-3-year...
So buy 1 year of Gold, Activate it on my One S and then do the £1 deal and I'll have 12 months? Nice on it

Yup thats it, maximum is 36 months which if I had known about when I upgraded I would of done!

A lot up front but compared to the £400 for gamepass for the same time its also a bargain as I cant see the monthly cost coming down in that time.
I owe you a pint

It was what you did when they first brought out ultimate. Don’t think it works anymore if you have ultimate already.
I'd never had Ultimate so on my homescreen on my One S was a £1 offer, followed Slows links and it worked, confirmed next charge for Ultimate is Oct 2021, very happy

Another pint from me!

"Xbox Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - £10.99 every month, next charge on 27/12/2022" Paid £49.99 x 2 from Amazon (not sure I trust CD Keys and preferred to pay the extra £10!)
Nice one, I wish I'd done 24 months but it seemed too good to be true so was nervous about dropping a oner on it

Since I've had it I'm already loving it, got FH4 which looks stunning even on a OneS, playing through Gow4 as I've not played it and will then play 5 on the Series X when it comes

More importantly I've tried 3 games and deleted 2 of them as I didn't like them and it's cost me nothing

Is there a numpty guide/links to do this for someone like me who has Xbox live already on an auto renew basis? I think it’s due to renew in Feb.
I 'think'

Cancel auto renew
Buy 12/24/36 months Gold from CD Keys or Amazon
Activate that code
Then take up the £1 offer for Ultimate on your home screen
