What happens when the deal runs out? Can you cancel Ultimate and return to an XBL subscription for £40-50/annum?

When your £1 ultimate runs out you just revert to the normal £10.99 per month cost (or whatever the price is then). You can just cancel it and go back to XBL but by then the goal is to have you hooked so you dont want to cancel!

Do we know what usb version the external ports are running as a sata SSD running on usb3 will be good enough for older games and much faster than your used to
According to this:

https://wccftech.com/xbox-series-x-s-no-wifi-6-usb...

.. they are specced as 3.1 gen1 which means 5GBps. Fast enough to make good use of a decent drive but the quality of the USB<>SATA bridge in the external drive caddy matters too as many aren't that great performing.

I'm sure DF will do a good job of investigating the benefits.

Is there a numpty guide/links to do this for someone like me who has Xbox live already on an auto renew basis? I think it’s due to renew in Feb.

I 'think'

Cancel auto renew
Buy 12/24/36 months Gold from CD Keys or Amazon
Activate that code
Then take up the £1 offer for Ultimate on your home screen

Theres a trick at the moment where if you use the £1 upgrade to gamepass ultimate it transfers all your existing xbox live into gamepass. Meaning you can buy up to the maximum 36 months of xbox live then pay £1 to change it all into gamepass ultimate.

https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-mo...

3 years worth is £135 compared to the cost for ultimate of around £400 for the same 3 years.

Edit: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3404524/get-3-year...
Thanks a million for this.. worked a treat!

It’s probably cos my brain is frazzled today, but how do I buy a 36 month Gold subscription from either cdkeys or amazon as they only list the 12 months?
Can I buy 3 of those and load them all into my account?

Exactly that! I've secured 25 months of GamePass for £1, mainly as my XBL subscription was due for renewal next month and I didn't want to spend £120 upfront! hehe I also thought that 2 years of GP is plenty of time to see if it's a viable service to continue subscribing to.

I've had a rolling GP subscription since March this year and the majority of games are either poorly rated, old or independent releases. There are only a handful of AAA titles. I find myself downloading games out of curiosity, only to then delete 10-60 minutes later.

Fingers crossed Cyberpunk or AC: Valhalla are released on GP, as some rumours are speculating! I imagine the new Forza Motorsport might make an appearance too! smile

Can anyone recommend a HDMI cable I should be using? I assume the one I’ve had in for 6 years needs to be changed for the new Xbox... it’s behind the wall so will get to get that done within the next month.

I would assume it will come with the right one? Just tie it to your old one with some string and pull it through...

Any, there isn't really any difference.

There actually is. There’s many different versions dating back to hdmi first coming out. You need one of the newer cables to run in 4K due to bandwidth demands.

You need hdmi 2.0 for 4K 60fps and 2.1 for 4K 120hz if I remember correctly.

That’s the actual connection on the device though isn’t it? I’ve never heard of cables being different. I’ve run everything from 720p up to 4K on the same cables...

Maybe I’ve been missing out!

For 4k you definitely need better cables.
