I can't help but worry that Sony is just playing catch up, first it was that you would have to pay for upgrades and now it's free and all of a sudden the library is growing. I never trust that kind of behaviour.

It is odd that Sony haven't touted backwards compatibility and enhancement of older titles in the way that MS have been doing, focussing on dedicated new titles instead during the build up hype period and downplaying back-compat. They also had a poor record of enhancing existing PS4 titles when PS4 Pro came out and PS4 itself had no backwards compatibility at all with older Playstations even though PS1 and PS2 would have been trivial for them to do.Stuff like this worries me, all seems like an afterthought

But I trust Digital Foundry and they are saying that enhancement of PS4 titles is very effective on the PS5. If I can run all my existing PS4 stuff - much of it better - on a PS5 then it now becomes a real option for me whereas before I was leaning towards XBox and keeping my PS4 Pro for my existing games library (much of it digital).

Awesome thanks!
No worriesI'd recommend Forza Horizon 4 it'll look amazing on the Series X
Gears of War are decent shooters, maybe start from 4
Batman Arkham Asylum is good fun
The only game I've 'bought' so far for the series X is Assassins Creed Valhalla
Oh and install the GamePass app then you can sit on your sofa, find a game and send it to the console to install, it's lovely

Haven’t played anything recently, well out of the gaming loop!Interesting ... comparison of load times of current-gen multiplatform titles from the internal SSD on PS5 and Xbox Series X:
https://youtu.be/pRRWsE3s46Q
... The Xbox comes out either the same load time or, in a few cases, a much shorter load time.
Third party titles only and they are running in 'backward compatibility' not coded to take advantage of the new SSD architecture - but it would imply that the much vaunted ultra-fast SSD of the PS5 maybe isn't that big of an advantage over the pretty fast SSD of the Series X.

I wonder if the controller is much of an improvement on the old one.... If not I might sell it I already have 3 including a nice personalised one I use from the family.
It's supposed to be an improvement and taken some of the tech from the Elite 2 controller. Maybe worth selling your others (except the personalised one of course)?Big Nanas said:

I'm guessing that an Xbox One Play and Charge won't fit a Series X controller. What's everyone doing for controller batteries/charging? Feed it Duracells, Play and Charge or a controller charging dock?
Tell me you don’t still need batteries for the controller? Surely you can recharge them straight out of the box?reggie82 said:

The series x controllers take 2 AA batteries. Weird isn’t it for modern tech!Luke. said:
