Seems reasonable enough. I paid the same for my Xbox One X at launch.

UK pricing for Xbox All Access:

https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-all-access

An Xbox Series X is 28.99 for 24 months, including Xbox Live and Game Pass Ultimate. So all in, £695.76.

Knock off the console cost, that's £246.76 for 24 months of Live and Game Pass Ultimate, or equivalent to £10.28 per month.

1 month of Game Pass Ultimate is currently £8.99, or 12 months for £99.99 (£8.33/month) from CD Keys.

So overall, using the All Access scheme would cost you £46.80 more over the term than buying the console up front and getting 12 month Game Pass subs from CD Keys. Actually, not a bad deal I'd say, from a convenience point of view. If you compare it to Microsoft list prices for Game Pass, as I suspect most people will, then it's cheaper.

Wow didn’t even know about the console thing.

This is insanely attractive for people who don’t wanna spent the whole up front cost on the console.

PS5 will have to come up with something mighty good to beat the Xbox pricing and deals.

That all access deal looks good. I assume users can keep the console afterwards as well?

Of course. It’s like any phone contract really.

According to the T&Cs you own the console from day one, so it looks like an unsecured personal loan (through Klarna) to pay for everything up front. I assume that also means you could settle the loan at any time as well.

When put like that, it's a very attractive option.

I went for the ultimate Game Pass before I found out about the trick to extend it for a year or more so I'm already back to paying it monthly so having it bundled in with a console makes some sense to me.

25th Anniversary of the PlayStation and so far Microsoft are stealing the limelight...I am by no means one of those console war/fanboy types, but I am enjoying the timing of this hehe

That's a very good deal - you get access to a 'next gen' console for £21 a month and instantly have a library of over 100 pretty decent games including a few big ones. Not that much extra to pay if you want to get the even more powerful Series X version either.

If the games running on Series S really are identical in performance to running on Series X apart from native 4K, that could be very appealing option even if you have a 4K set, 1440p upscaled to 4k is going to still look very good. If you don't have a 4K set of course, it's even better.

Wonder if Microsoft are going for a loss on consoles/games in order to get subscription cash long term.

The consoles actually seem too cheap!

They clearly figure that the mobile phone model - essentially selling monthly subscriptions to gain access to expensive hardware for little upfront cost - is workable for consoles.

The question is; With the Game Pass access to a large and decent library, just how likely are their owners going to be to shell out for new games from third parties? They might dissuade developers.

Just saw that the Ultimate Game Pass that you get with the deal, includes the Windows Pass too..... That sweetens the deal quite a bit.

As I understand it consoles have been traditionally been sold at a loss, so they can make the money back on software.

Would anyone buy one of these for its parts and input into a PC build ie it’s parts are worth vastly more than the RRP

You might, but sensible folks would do some research first, realise architecture is not the same as parts, and do something useful instead.

Yep. They're not built with standard PC RAM and graphics cards, it's custom chipsets.
