Snowrunner released today
Discussion
I've been playing this game on the Xbox, and it's so addictive that I've bought the season passes and dlc. Unlike other games I've bought from the Xbox store, it looks like there are separate versions for Xbox and PC so I won't be able to download it on my new pc when it arrives. Are there any workarounds that will let me use it on the pc without buying everything again?

I found a Reddit post asking the same and it appears that it's not cross-compatible unfortunately :/So you may need to buy it separately for PC if you want to move over to playing on there.
The base game is currently included in the Game Pass on the WIndows store, so although you won't keep your progress, you can install it for free. The Premium Edition which includes the first round of DLC I believe, is £35 on Game Pass.
I'd recommend buying it through the Epic Games store if you want to own and keep the game and the extras content, it's currently 35% off, so ~£17 for the base game / ~£28 for the Premium - that discount ends Jan 6th, but they've also given a £10 Christmas voucher to all accounts, min. purchase £14, expires Jan 7th - so you end up with the base game for ~£7, or the Premium for ~£18.
Thanks, that didn't come up when I tried googling for info. I'm going to be using the pc with a steering wheel for racing games, and will keep the xbox in the lounge for everything else. Not having all the snowrunner dlc available on the pc is a bit annoying, but sticking with the xbox for snowrunner makes sense.
I'll install the gamepass version on the pc to see how the graphics compare and try some mods, and then see how it goes.

I really enjoyed this initially (100% completed the original maps and a couple of DLCs) but after a few DLCs they just seemed to make the tasks boring for no reason than just to pad out the mission.
For example the one that made me stop was having to haul long logs. I can't remember the exact number but say you had to have 7 loads to complete the task but you could only carry 3 at a time so you had to do this long tedious and muddy drive an extra time just because they couldn't make it a nicer 6 load requirement.
Are the later DLCs any better?

Pro-tip; for long-log tasks where you have to deliver several loads:For example the one that made me stop was having to haul long logs. 1x empty long-log trailer and tractor combo at delivery site, sat in the delivery box
1x tractor with 5-slot sideboard trailer at logging site, ideally with a logging crane also attached
Manually load logs into sideboard trailer - you can get 4-5 loads into the trailer. Each load = 3 logs, so 15 logs in the trailer.
Drive sideboard to the deliver site, load logs into long-log trailer
Every 3 logs switch to the logging truck, pack logs and deliver them.
Rinse & repeat until all logs delivered.
Seems like a lot of moving parts but much quicker, esp on the DLC maps where you have huge distances between points. Only tricky thing can be grabbing the logs from the trailer with the crane - tipping the trailer solves that.
To answer your question, most of the DLC maps are pretty tough going, one or two are easier, in the same vein as the original vanilla maps.

Been playing this pretty religiously for about 2 years tbh and just finished the first S3 DLC. Pretty impressive Saber Interactive are still putting content out as I think quite a few of their devs are based in Ukraine! just started a new game+ the other day as it’s my favourite game to ply whilst listening to podcasts, which I now have a huge backload of.

The extended options in new game plus are amazing. My main playthrough now has hardcore fuel and truck rules but free mods, I find it gives a good balance of challenge and reward.
Yeah the spread of options are brilliant; I went with no money, fuel costs 2 credit per litre but start with max XP so that all attachment options are available at the start. It has been great playing Michigan with base trucks but fully spec’d, opposed to struggling with stock options for ages. anyone reading this still? :-) Im trying to clear tasks on first Michigan map.
By the farm there's a big muddy field with a CK1500 scout stuck in the middle of it and a task yellow dotted box round it.
Ive towed the scout out but whatever scout/offroad truck I use I get stuck in mud before I can reach the yellow box to activate the task.
Tried:
Paystar offroad truck upgraded to best off road tyres I could afford (Mud not unlocked yet) - got stuck in mud
Tayga - as above - stuck in mud.
Got the Hummer and could fit some mud tyres on it. - got stuck.
diff lock and low gear on paystar - didnt help
How the heck do you get near enough to the box to activate the task?
Thanks
