Done the first few campaign missions, however I'm struggling with my ore trucks randomly to-ing and fro-ing around the refinery and not depositing my gold! Have I done something wrong, built it in the wrong place or built too many trucks at once perhaps?
The lack of improved AI is why I'm not bothering with this unless they improve it.

As soon as an ore truck is full it has drop off priority, so if you have one far away, a closer one could become full and return sooner, being forced to wait.
You can mitigate it a bit by having ore trucks from each refinery harvesting close together.

I normally just have 2 trucks per refinery to reduce it.

Well I struggled through the first few campaign missions, but the further I got into the game the worse the stuttering and juddering got, on the penultimate mission and even scrolling around the map is a bumpy, jerky and frustrating experience, you haven't got a hope of trying to target a moving tank or coordinate an attack using a modest number of units.

The support forums are full of people with much more powerful hardware than I having exactly the same problem. It seems the developers have taken a 25 year old game that needed a 120 MHz processor and 16 mb(!) Of RAM, and with a little bit of visual improvements and a couple of user interface tweaks, made it too resource hungry to run properly on the comparative super computers of today! Quite an impressive feat really hehe

I've asked for a refund based on the above but we'll see, got a fair few hours of playing time in before I had enough so it might be rejected, I'm not familiar with Steam on that front.

Anyone else had any similar issues?
Lazy coding happens when you have picked of memory.

Back in the day when you had 16k, coding had to be slick.

I remember Dune - I think it led to C&C.

No time to play any more, I have other stuff to command and conquer
I knew the game so well that I could build a super weapon and destroy their command centre without even seeing their base. I knew where every com centre was for each map. I’d build my base with massive defences then buffer off to school whilst letting the game crack on with itself.

Come home to finish the map biggrin

I had a lot of fun replaying this on EA Play. Yes, there isn't much strategy beyond exploiting the AI (which cheats anyway, so I don't feel bad) then bulldozing them with tanks, but it's still fun to play and I always prefer the more realistic aesthetic before it went all sci fi. Although how is the game 26gb when it used to fit on a pair of cds?

When are they going to do red alert 2 and yuris revenge? Probably the best games ever to grace a pc.

Dug my PS1 out the shed recently and have been very much enjoying good old C&C again, still has the price sticker on the case too. A lot of hours lost on this over the years

Is that the one you could play with two playstations and 2 TVs via the link cable?

If so I spent many house at my mates house on this.

Sitting there seeing his expression as his power stations and defences went off line as my drills appeared inside his base and my troops all poured in.

C&C Red Alert: Retaliation was easily my most played PS1 game.

Some good memories:

Fleets of missile subs/battleships that you could use to lay waste to a whole base in minutes

Using a chinook full of Tanyas to take out an enemies power stations before sending an air strike in

Mounting huge rescue operations to retrieve aircrew that had parachuted out of jets/helicopters
