The more I look at it the less I like it... It's a bit of a monstrosity ... If it was half the size at least you could hide it somewhere ...
Controllers are wireless, you can get range extender thingies. And also long hdmi cables/repeater thingies. You could hide it in a cupboard if you wished.

Consoles are for people who dont want to use a pc for gaming.
A lot of people now have both. I quite like tinkering with the hardware and Linux on it and the gaming potential is unsurpassed, plus you can run the various software applications that you likely use at work. Downside is that you have to put a little more work into it to get everything set up the way you want. And if you get something like an Nvidia ShieldTV box (or any STB/ Smart TV that can run Moonlight and/or the SteamLink client) you can pretty much play your games on your telly, from your sofa, exactly as if they were console game - which eliminates a large reason why I might NOT want to game on it ... Too much like sitting at a work desk in front of a PC screen.
turn console on > play
turn console on -> download game update -> Download essential system update -> give up on playing as you've run out of time.

If true, that's pretty impressive for the Specs ... I'll likely be spending almost that much just for a video card upgrade once the RTX3060 comes out.I will still wait for the PS5 hardware refresh a couple of years down the line before making a next-gen purchase though.

The NG Xbox looks pretty brutal too but overall is more compact, regular shaped, and looks like it could be easily tucked away out of sight. Both systems are likely to need good airflow though so simply bunging them in a closed space could be a bit dodgy.

To be fair that article says $499 which is near enough £499. Not £400
$1 is currently £0.80. Could always be slight variations in the currency or whatever, but I can't see a console selling for £499 over here, not many will go for it IMO.

Things like iPhones etc are usually 1:1 when they get over here. I wouldn’t expect this to be any different. I was expecting £500 anyway.
https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/Launch_priceYeah tbf a lot of them have been 1:1 looking at the history.

A friend who works for Sony (although a different department) is saying closer to £400 than £500 however as there is 2 versions maybe one at £400 and the other at £500? Yeah tbf a lot of them have been 1:1 looking at the history.

I’ll be buying it on launch day but probably for my sons bedroom before getting one for myself later.
I’ve kept every gaming console I’ve ever had, along with their games, from the Spectrum 48k to SNES, PS1, 2, 3 & 4, Wii, Xbox One. Just wish I’d kept my ZX81.
Ah those were the days I’ve kept every gaming console I’ve ever had, along with their games, from the Spectrum 48k to SNES, PS1, 2, 3 & 4, Wii, Xbox One. Just wish I’d kept my ZX81.

Would MS or Sony charge £/$100 extra for the Blu-ray drive version?
They could. The drive threatens their profitability as you can buy physical copies of games used/sell games on. By going driveless you are stuck to the PSN/Xbox store with no alternatives, and they are rarely competitvely priced to begin with. Skyrim is still a £40 game on PSN.Jasandjules said:
I was really hoping they would do a 2TB hard drive version....
But will get the disc version just in case - though I rarely bother with discs these days but it still means you can maybe get a cheapo game from Ebay etc in time...
My understanding is the SSD size is the optimum size for the best performance any bigger and the performance dropped off. I’m sure as the technology improves the PS5 v2 will have a larger drive like we saw with the pro.But will get the disc version just in case - though I rarely bother with discs these days but it still means you can maybe get a cheapo game from Ebay etc in time...

Current Xbox One S prices are £199 for the digital console and £249 for the drive version bundled with a game.
I will never go digital only, not unless I'm forced to. Having a disc tray means that you can pick up bargains online or in store etc, that very rarely happens on the Microsoft/Sony stores.Current Xbox One S prices are £199 for the digital console and £249 for the drive version bundled with a game.
