Anyone else not impressed with the PS5 so far?

The only way I can see myself getting either console at launch is if the pricing is really competitive. I like the stance that Microsoft have taken with the Xbox, but I can play old games on my One. PS5 has some interesting games, but nothing that would make me buy the console, plus I think it looks a bit ridiculous.
Maybe it is me, but it feels like both parties have been quite underwhelming so far. They need a big "wow" moment, however I am not seeing where that will come from.
Will it not be a traditional Christmas launch? i.e. limited supply and every parent desperate to get one for their kids.Maybe it is me, but it feels like both parties have been quite underwhelming so far. They need a big "wow" moment, however I am not seeing where that will come from.

But they will compete in other ways if PS5 is outselling them. Drop price/bundle deals and offers and so on.
Xbox can't let PS5 outsell them too much, otherwise games companies will make PS5 the priority.
I'm not sure if they'll care too much if the hardware sales are down - they make their money from Game Pass subscriptions, by making 'ex-exclusives' available to PC, they'll only bump up the Game Pass subs even more.Xbox can't let PS5 outsell them too much, otherwise games companies will make PS5 the priority.
Even as Xbox fan, it seems they're waving the white flag in the console war itself and have moved to a hand in hand strategy with the PC format and games companies aren't going to abandon making PC games any time soon.
Series X just looks set to be a budget hyper PC for the lounge.

in a world where phones cost £1000+ is £500 on a games console that will last 10 years be that much of a problem?
This & for the casual gamer the digital option which Lockheart might be £249 would be an utter bargain for 8 odd yearsp1stonhead said:
Microsoft blinked.
Series X
10th November
$499
Assume £499 too I guess?
Also they have a Series S
$299
Not even sure what that is?! Digital only and a bit less powerful apparently.
UK Series S price is £249 (just been posted in the Xbox thread), so maybe £449 for the Series X if it's $499 ?Series X

Numerous other articles out there.
There are existing subscribers that got in on a cheap deals (for example https://www.pcworld.com/article/3404524/get-3-year... - there have been others too.
What they are hoping is they can snag people in to the subscription model and then raise prices. MS will have to support Xbox for some time yet - losses on hardware (as normal), gamepass making a token profit, they have invested in the purchase of studios over the past few years, so there is quite a bit of investment to pay back there too.
I guess where they make money at the moment is digital game sales (allegedly they take 30% as the PSN store does).
Gamepass fits the SaaS (or GaaS in this case) model, the question is can they raise prices enough to make it profitable, cover hardware losses, repay investment. Retaining regular subscribers will be important. I'd suggest the Series S machine will help with that for casuals.

My PS4 was mounted on the wall hidden behind my TV. It should be back there now but I haven't been arsed to put it back after redecorating. https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/09/ps5_too_bi...
The mounts were less than a tenner from ebay.
