Anyone else not impressed with the PS5 so far?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but there doesn't seem to be too many advantages to buying the disk version over the digital version as most modern games are stored entirely on the console anyway?
Only really useful if you know someone else that is willing to share disk games with you.
Also, is crossplay between this gen of consoles likely on most games?
I much prefer the PS5 and always have but most of my mates play on Xbox.
If you already have a PS4 then you probably have some titles on disc that you want to keep playing. Plus you can pick up physical PS4 disks pretty cheaply on sale, or secondhand. And play Blu Rays or, I assume, UHD movie discs.Only really useful if you know someone else that is willing to share disk games with you.

As you say, just about everything does a full install to internal storage anyway these days (and all next-gen stuff will), so you won't save space on the internal drive - the physical discs are just treated like DRM keys. I can't imagine that they will ship too much next-gen stuff on physical discs it'll probably be mostly collectors editions.

What new games are actually coming out for this? Only one I was think of is AC, nothing else. I'll definitely be waiting a few months before purchasing, was tempted to have a look next week but just seems pointless, especially when i don't even have a 4k tv.
You need to get a 4K television to really see the benefits of the next gen consoles! I’ve jumped from 1080P (XBO) to 4K (Series X) and the improvement in graphics is astounding! It’ll be awhile before games are produced specifically for the new consoles, showcasing what they’re truly capable of. In the meantime, there’s AC, Watch Dogs Legions, Cyberpunk, Hitman etc ...

Yeah I keep reading that about 4k, I think I'll invest in both a new tv and a new console at some point next year. Cyberpunk looks decent, I'm looking forward to playing that.
The difference between 4k and Full HD is certainly more striking than I thought it would be. I'm currently gaming on a PS4 Pro (capable of 4k), but I occasionally switch over to a standard Xbox One (Only capable of 1080p) and the difference is remarkable. Add HDR to the mix and a TV upgrade is well worth the money.

This is the massive blow to me too. I have bought COD just so I have a game and will try out some of the freebies that come with it (Days Gone for example). Apart from that it will be a while before I find a game that I truly want that is "Upgraded" to account for the PS5 power I suspect.
This may be a naive question, but if it doesn’t have any games that you want what did you buy it for?More PS5 skin and side panel news, dbrand are refunding PS5 skins because it's too hard to fit them properly.

I think mainly because I am a child and did not want to miss out. With the PS4 I though I would wait six months, but a week of them being released I went to the shop and picked one up... So not going to make the same error twice. Plus my two mates that I game with online have ordered theirs so to be able to continue required me to get one too along with COD........Jasandjules said:

Fair enough. I want to get my brother one for Christmas, so will have to see if any hit the shops before then.Kneedragger95 said:

Is it 4k or is it the HDR that is striking? As they say unless you are sat up close, 4k isn't that big a difference over HD.hyphen said:

Both. I sit about 6ft away from a 55inch display, and I can see the difference between 1080p and 4k content quite clearly. When I am playing on the standard Xbox one, things like text aren't quite as sharp as when my PS4 Pro is outputting at 4k (comparing the UI is a perfect example of this).HDR is striking because the colours being displayed are very vibrant but not overly so, keeping the image very detailed.
Bright colours appearing in an otherwise dark scene also look incredible in HDR, such as watcher lights inside a dimly lit Cauldron in Horizon: Zero Dawn or car headlights at night time in Gran Turismo 7.
