Gangzoom, IOS Stadia is on way. Google is asking for volunteers to test, thought you may be interested.

You don't need to let us know how you get on, but you will won't you biggrin
If I had that much free time I probably would, also it would require I own an iOS device which I don't smile

Generally found the stadia store pages a bit clunky at first & had some challenges in controllers as above - not tried a PS4 controller with any device yet, will try that and the x-box X controller with the surface later and see if that is working.
The wireless Xbox controller seems to work on pretty much every device, even work desktops!! Pretty crazy I could potentially run Cyberpunk 2077 on a work machine......No doubt though I wouldn't be working in the same job for long if I actually tried it smile.

Stadia is doing a Black Friday sale, KOTR was one of my favourite games I can remember so why not try the latest EA attempt, reviews aren't bad and its about the price of Friday night fish&chips smile

Only been able to ge through the intro bit, for some reasons I don't think this game was designed to be played on a Samsung S9 with touch screen controls!! Still crazy it runs beautifully on 2.5 years old phone.

I see IGN has dared to mention the orignal Desu EX when talking about Cyberpunk, which makes it tempting, but not that Stadia do 'sales' events like everyone else I'll hold off buying it till next year.

Hitman is probably the only game series I've played end to end since the PC original, actually Hitman 2 is the only game I bought and finished recently on the Xbox, so cannot wait to try it on the computer again with mouse + keyboard rather than controller - Though like Cyberpunk I'll wait till it goes onsale.

Stadia is really working for me interms getting me back into some kind of gaming time squeezed into family time smile. I see the Cyberpunk thread is filled with talk about graphics card upgrades.....am simply glad the tech is now here where someone like me who simply don't have the time/effort to be chasing hardware upgrades or even new devices just for games can still play brand new AAA titles - well after 6 months+ and the publisher take 30%+ off the retail price wink.

Interesting to see even thought the phone resolution is actually higher than 1080P (2,960x1,440 pixels max I think), the graphics details when running on a laptop is clearly higher - Even though am a cheap skate and not paying for 'Pro' so 1080p res and not 4K. The laptop is running native, 2304 x 1440 so no where near 4K but higher than 1080p.

Either way its looks good, runs fine, loads in seconds, no need for any local storage and all on a 2013 laptop which is what am after smile.

How did you get the other tenner off?
If you are a new user you get £10 off.

Have to say now that Stadia is offering games at competitive prices it makes me much more likely to buy them.

Am tempted to get the latest Doom for £16, though my confession is I never actually finished the original Doom or Doom 2- and back than I had a whole load of spare time to do nothingsmile.

Had 1 hour or so free this morning, signed up to another Stadia Pro trial to get £10 off first order so I could get FarCry 5 for £1.16. But also had a go at Hitman and Sniper 4 elite, two games I both actually finished on my Xbox.

Interns of graphics detail and frame rate I have to say Hitman run better on Stadia than on the Xbox

I was also going to compare Sniper Elite, but I forgot I had deleted the install on the Xbox…..

I actually also forgotten how much more control in FPS you have with a mouse and key board versus game pad, add that on to load times, pretty much equal performance for me Stadia is more than good enough for my gaming needs now.

So I can now play F1 2020, Destiny, FarCry, Hitman, StarWars Jedi when ever I feel like it, all on pretty much device is really fab. Infact am so happy with Stadia over the last few months I’ve just pre-ordered CyberPunk2077 so that I can try it on the TVs in the house as it comes with a ‘free’ Chrome Cast and controller.

I still enjoy playing games, but I really don’t miss all the hardware faff that comes with them, Stadia for me is exactly what I was after to let me get back into some gaming time smile.

It's called trying to assess the tech before spending more £ on it smile

I opened another account so I could get the £10 off first game bonus, and grab FarCry 5 for £1.57 smile

In between entertaining a 4 year old and doing some house work squeezed in some time to get the intro mission done.

Looking at the graphics running at 1080p, the detail seems to be at least on par with PS4 Pro/Xbox One X.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-...

The game play is fine, again lag isn't an issue.

https://youtu.be/UwF_Lc0bhNg

I than realised despite 'buying' Jedi Knight a few days ago I prefer FPS games to platformers, to my surprise I was able to 'return' Jedi Knight because I had played less than 2hrs and it was within 14 days of me buying it.

The tech for Stadia is fab and more than good enough for me, and now it appears the games store with sales, able to get refunds, growing selection is also getting there. Will be interesting to how well Cyberpunk 2077 runs on the TV with Chrome Cast extreme on Wifi, I'll wait till it arrives before playing Cyberpunk I think. IF it runs OK on 1080p I might be tempted to upgrade to 'Pro' subscription for 4K.....But am also a cheap skate so that's unlikely to happen smile.

Had a rare day free to myself today so I thought I properly see how well Stadia works as a console replacement when hooked up to the TV. Part of the reason is to see if it worth me ‘pre-odering’ CyberPunk 2077 for the free ChromeCast + controller.

Without a Chromecast I hooked up my 2013 MBP to our TV, its not running at 4K but 1080P due to hardware limitations on the laptop, connected to our home WiFi network via 802.11n even though our router (in a different room) supports 802.11ac as again the laptop is old smile.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised how well the system ran, no lag that I could detect to the point where my main focus was trying to do a lap properly on F1 2020 rather than frame rates/lag etc - though it did lag a bit when I crashed out smile.

https://youtu.be/fWtm69Xd33g

I than played a bit of FarCry 5, the gaming experience was pretty much on par with what I would expect from my Xbox.

Finally I tried do a graphics comparison between Stadia and my Xbox with Hitman 2, some interesting observation.

This is the opening screen of Mumbai level on Stadia, notice the tree/bunting detail….

….versus my Xbox running at 4K+HDR. To my surprise the Stadia version looked cleaner, and game play was identical.

However some of the local texture details on Stadia was clearly inferior to the Xbox version. Anyone who’s played on the Xbox will be use to ’texture popping in’ which is what I was expecting with the Stadia version, but nope, low rez textures stayed low rez no matter how close you get to it. This is clearly a decision made by Google, and part of what Stadia is, you forget about graphic settings etc, and just play the games.

Stadia:

Xbox:

I’ve been playing games on Stadia since the summer, but today is the first time I’ve been able to properly assess it to see if I really want to buy more games (like Cyberpunk) on Stadia. Overall I’m very happy, with half decent internet connection, even over WiFi at 5pm on a Friday Stadia works well enough for me to now even think about signing up for the ‘Pro’ subscription which gives access to 4K streaming using a ChromeCast.

I’ll wait till Cyberpunk is released and will see how it runs on the ChromeCast before deciding about Pro subscription. One thing is very clear though Stadia has turned my 2013 MBP into a proper games machine capable of running AAA titles, though the hardware is still a limit with no 4K streaming or access to fastest WiFi connection, still not bad for a near 8 year old machine smile.

Made some time today to have a go on CyberPunk 2077, running off my 2013 MBP, WiFi, 1080P, HDMI into LG OLED panel + sound system.

Have to say am really glad I didn't cancel my pre-order of CyberPunk, 2hrs just flew by, it feels like Deus EX, Hitman, Mass effect, Fry cry rolled into one and am absolutely loving it. Plays so well on Stadia I didn't even bother to think about the gaming hardware, instead was just enjoying the game, which for me is what gaming is about........Cannot wait till I put some proper time into this game and level up enough to take out one of those Mechs like a toy....Currently though am getting flatlined by some hooligans with hand guns, so a long way to go yet smile

Still tempted by the Cyberpunk offer, I have RDR2 and AC Valhalla still to play though on my old Xbox One.
I put in about 20hrs into RDR2, it started off OK but quickly turned into a bore, much like the original, I have no idea why it reviewed so well. Never played any AC game so cannot comment, but depending on what you enjoy Cyberpunk is blowing me away. Just order it, and play it smile.

If so, why would you stream over Cloud? When you can play locally on good hardware and only send minimal data over the network.
Am running Cyberpunk 2077 on a 2013 MacBook Pro, I haven't even got Stadia Pro so all I pay for is the game and no other on going costs.

I've also bought F1 2020 for £40, Far Cry 5 for £1.57 (after £10 discount), and Destiny 2 for £22 (in a sale), no worries about hardware/storage/updates, just load up Chrome on any device I want and play smile.

In theory I'll get a 'free' Chromecast extreme and controller with my Cyberpunk 2077 purchase, which will allow me to run games in 4K on my OLED TV - my current MacBook Pro doesn't support 4K. But for 4K streaming you have to sign up to Pro subscription which am not sure I want to do.

But that's the point. The base spec new machine will out do the top specs of yesterday.
What do you mean??

All I know is my 2013 MacBookPro runs Staida perfectly on WiFi using a Xbox controller, even when driving my 50ich OLED.

The reason I haven't upgraded the laptop is because it runs all my work stuff fine, and I don't see the point of paying £1000 on a new laptop just to play games.

Don't also forget the amount storage you need for a game like Cyberpunk, 50-70gigs?? But with Stadia I don't have to worry at all, and after taking into account the 'free' Chromecast ultra + controller the game it self is almost free.

Assassin Creed Odyssey was £11 on sale recently on Stadia, Doom Eternal £16 I think, Jedi Fallen order £23 - which I played than got a full refund on because I didn't enjoy it.

So why bother with upgrading local hardware when Google will do all heavy lifting and games are also reasonably priced in sale events?

How much are new MacBookPros these days? The last time I checked they were nearly £2k, and is Cyberpunk 2077 even out on MacOS?

You can have multiple G mail accounts associated with Stadia, there is a 'switch' account button on the main screen. You cannot stack £10 discounts but any brand new G mail account gets £10 off and 1 month Stadia trial...It took me minutes to make up a new G mail account.

You're rushing through it!! I persume you haven't picked up the robot yet? Jackie is hanging around outside on a motorbike.

I preordered before launch, Google is probably staggering handouts of the Chromecast based on stock.

I just realised there is no reason why I cannot take the Chromecast and setup it at the inlaws when we are free to tavel around again.

Looking at the hardware chat and moaning about console performance on the Cyberpunk thread makes me really glad Stadia work so well.

To me it feels like Google have nailed it now with the tech, am still not sure how much revenue they can generate from Stadia. The hardware needed to stream a game like Cyberpunk and with no noticeable lag must be mental, yet all I've paid is £50 - and Google is sending me extra hardware for that cost.......

I'll see how 4K streaming works over WiFi on my second Stadia account for which I still 10+ days left of 'free' Pro trial. I almost want to sign up for Pro subscription because I feel like am taking advantage of Staida with the game discounts, £10 off sign on stuff, refunding games I tried but didn't like.......Than I remember its Google, no one needs to feel empathy for the all seeing, all knowing, and our future AI master smile.

So whilst preparing for my ChromeCast Ultra to arrive I thought I would test a wired connection to see if I can run 4K on the living room TV. I don't have an Ethernet connection in the living room, but remembered I had some spare Powerlink adaptors so hooked them up to my laptop.

The adaptors seem to provide enough speed 40Mbps (Stadia needs 35Mbps for 4K), and for the first time I say options for HDR aswell - my laptop just doesn't support these features but the Chromecast Ultra should smile

Here is a very brief video of gameplay at 1080p using the Powerlink adaptors, and you can see gameplay is 100% fine. I'm also clearly no YouTube streaming star interms of video setup/sound recording smile

https://youtu.be/BGCKeDd1Oms

I've now gone and ordered an Ethernet adaptor for the Chromcast when it arrives, so will run Stadia using the Powerlink connection, and if stable enough might even pay up for 'Pro subscription' for 4K streaming........So not quite £0 in hardware costs to run Cyberpunk 2077 on a 50inch OLED, but £14 isn't too bad smile.

Yeah, am no YouTuber, but the Stadia capture I think don't capture any 'lags' or judders from weak local connection.

Shame I'll have zero time to play this game this weekend frown
