Was very tempted until I read it doesn't work with Steam? That can't be right can it?
Not sure why Google would have any interest in having it work with Steam, they must be losing plenty on the hardware so the only profit comes from having a ring-fenced store.Steam on telly without a PC would be awesome though, I still can't believe that nobody (including Valve) have come up with a popular way of doing just that.

Unless I'm imagining it an Nvidia Shield can do that right now with Geoforce Now. My internet's too slow to use it though. bloomen said:

I've barely seen any positive comments from any gamers on any streaming platforms. They're not the target market. They can't upgrade a graphics card for 800 quid for one-up-man-ship and will notice/moan that the lag is 100ms behind their console or PC.https://youtu.be/_-NoFmhqNu4
The likes of me however, is most likely their target demographic. Isn't going to spend 400 quid on a new machine, has a spare 25 minutes at night and has a quick game of fifa etc etc and for that it fits the bill very well.
The new promotions on the google hardware are very good and its what google should've went with at release to get the hype and subscribers going.
For it to be a success or for at least the service to stay they need to get crossplay for their biggest games. Get crossplay, open up a few markets (countries) and bag a few AAA titles and it should hopefully be a success.
Noticed Wrecked is one of the free games in the pro plan so after a year of not using the Stadia I decided to subscribe again, looks like Google think I'm a new customer even though I bought the founders edition back when it was £120 so has given me three months free.
Might buy another stadia simply for the Controller as the controller alone is still selling for £59!

Getting GTA on board would be a big step, I only buy a new console when the new GTA comes out and its not available for the old console.
They have red dead redemption which is Rockstar so fingers crossed other titles get ported across. It won't happen but i'd absolutely love another shot of Vice City. ch37 said:

That's what Steam Link and NVidia Gamestream (Moonlight client) do..... I use them all the time to play my Steam PC games on my telly (they stream from your PC). You can get clients for Android TV, Fire TV and some Smart TV platforms.Steam on telly without a PC would be awesome though, I still can't believe that nobody (including Valve) have come up with a popular way of doing just that.
It's a great way to play many games - most PC games these days have a console release too so there is generally full support for joypad control. You just need half decent networking ... generally wifi-wifi is a bit dodgy so best if at least your PC is connected via ethernet to the router.
I was originally a sceptic when I initially tried stadia on my phone earlier this year.
Recently ordered Chromecast Ultra + Stadia Controller from Google for £19.99 as I needed a controller for the PC and chromecast would come in handy.
Honestly I'm amazed how good it works. Works so much better than Xbox cloud.
I only tend to play racing sims so unfortunately not much use to me but is definitely something to look to once my son grows a bit older.

^The 'Quality' on the Chrome cast is 100% better than on any other device, regardless of what Google says about streaming.
Picked up Ghost Recon recently, I don't often get the chance to play it on the main TV, but when I get the chance it just looks amazing even in 1080P on a 4K OLED panel. Zero lag, zero updates etc. It does chew through data though, got about 90 minutes of gaming in on Sunday and it seem to have got through 10gig data.

Having been living under a rock all this time, I only recently became aware of these online streaming platforms. At first I didn't get it - struggled to believe that it was possible to 'stream' a game and it not have any lag. I still can't work out how they do it! But they do, so I tried it.
I think Stadia suits me really well. Whilst I used to be a gamer back in the days of the PlayStation 1, I hardly played games after that, aside from the fun family games of the Wii. I have a PS1 classic as well as the Wii now for pick up and play with daughter, but Ive also fancied trying some of these Hi Def next gen games for some time now - in particular a racing game of some sort, and also Assassin's Creed and Red Dead which I always thought looked really good.
But I don't have much time to spare for in depth type of games these days, I might be able to dedicate perhaps an hour a week. So Stadia ticks all the boxes for me as I need no other hardware. Awesome!! It works on my laptop just fine - amazing really how this tech can even be done! When the controller arrives it comes with the dongle to let me play on the TV too if I want to. Marvellous!
I had the Pro sub on trial which gave me £10 off my first game. I've cancelled the Pro sub as I wouldn't get the value from it monthly, but I purchased the controller for £20 (currently on offer) and used my £10 discount to get Assassin's Creed for just £3.50.
They have a racing game and Red Dead on there as well which I'll buy at some point in the future.
Really pleased with it so far!! The only downside is that you can't 'unclaim' games, which means I've now got a massive list of games I'll never ever play in my library after accidentally pressing "claim all" when I was messing about with the trial. Doh!!

There are some cracking deals around at the moment (all found on HUKD).
3 months free via signing up through the Legion Gaming Community, a big sale on the Stadia store itself (which has some genuinely decent deals) and also the Stadia controller clip for phones is £9 on Amazon rather than £15.
