I had a go with one of these last week at my local game shop. They're a stunning piece of kit! so based on what i saw i put a pre-order in. cant wait to get hold of it now on 1st of September!

really looking forward to TOCA Race Driver being released, and GT. It will certainly make journeys a little bit easier to cope with.

Just seen my first PSP for real. WOW how cool are they !!

Ok , some questions for the techies here.

What do you need to burn current PS2 games onto a memory stick?
How do you compress DVD's to PSP sticks?

Are there any other cool features it can do ?

Shady

Internet browser, store movies on memory sticks, music, play games etc etc

Fifa = boring, can only use the analogue stick and because its in the wrong position its not natural to play.

Ridgeracer = ace, just same old playstation game

Wipeoutpure = ace, just gets very hard very soon

Armoured core = pants, its basically a movie of your robot kicking ass then getting points, you have no controll in game fights.

Everybodys Golf = really good golf sim, with cartoon gfx and arcade powerups.

Dynasty warriors = same as PS2 really, just hack everyone up.. .. .. not too sure about this one.

Metal gear = is a good angle on the original game.

Ape escape = kids game, mines jap so half the time i aint got a clue whats going on as text is part of some of the minigames.

Vampire Chronicals = tough, good game but is a PSP destroyer!

Tony Hawkes = the best game ive got for the PSP.

As I am in the gaming industry I normally buy the new consoles as soon as they are out in japan, had my PSP on pre order over there in december (and got the cool demo disk with it too).

Hope this helps

Gary when you say "in the industry", what do you mean exactly? Games shop, or developer? Just curious, I'm not about to start stalking you or owt

Don't you find the PSP buttons feel a tad, erm, crap after a while, especially the shoulder buttons?

I feel the buttons are a bit cheap feeling, and the cover fittings are all slightly off - maybe the european versions will feel better made, but I doubt it.

Most dissapointed at finding the buttons are all just on / off rather than the analogue in the dual shocks. Maybe the digitiser circuits & extra bus wires would have made the thing too big at the time of development. Whatever reason, I think TOCA 2 will feel a bit flatter on the PSP than the PS2 now

You can get the Emulator here, there is a guide on how to set it up but if you need anymore info on it post on here and i'll do my best to help.

http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/

edit: There is also a snes emulator there but it's nowhere near as smooth as the megadrive one, they need to do some more tweaking with that I think.

Downloaded the emulator for megadrive, but where are loading the games from?? Cheers

Got mine a few months ago.. Not overly impressed to be honest, but have lobbed in a 1gb card, and upgraded to 2.0. Use it as my mp3 player in my car. They really need a gt4 type game! I'd play it all the time then!

There is a GT4 PSP version in production isn't there? It was touted a lot a while back but I've not seen much since??

Marked to be released soon, but the date keeps getting shifted back, as you expect really. I think we'll see it some time in November / December for the Christmas markets.

TOCA 2 is out tomorrow though, you can pre-order it from codemasters now fairly cheap:

I think at the moment, GT4 PSP/Mobile is scheduled for release sometime in march next year, although as has been said, it is constantly being pushed back, which is getting a tad annoying, although this seems to happen with all the GT games.

Ive got TOCA pre-ordered to go with my PSP when i collect it tomorrow, and ive paid £25 for the game, although hopefully it will be less if i have my own way! (ive found a better deal for the local game shop to match, and it includes and extra game for less as well).

I was out in Jersey over the bank holiday weekend, and noticed the price of PSP's, it might not be a much off, but its better than nothing. They're priced at £152.99, which seems like a pretty good deal, and thats for the same value pack that we're getting with headphones, case etc. games didnt seem much different in terms of price though, same goes for accesories.

Just heard from Codemasters: TOCA 2 and Colin McRea have both been delayed by a day or two due to issues with shipping.

TOCA 2 also allows you to put your own songs on the memory stick to add to the playlist while you're driving, I think Colin McRea may have the same thing, but not heard about it if it has.

picked up my PSP and TOCA Race Driver 2 this morning, and its a stunning piece of kit! and TRD2 seems extremely good too, although codemasters have already released a mod to allow music in games from your memory stick.

The only problem im currently coming up against is my PSP refuses to play any MP4 movies ive done using imovie on my mac, but ones ive downloaded from the net work fine. i assume some how they are some sort of different compression? i will have a tweak with them and see if i can get it sorted... anyone else had similar problems?

now which game to get next..... hmmmm colin mcrae 2005 is very tempting, but so is thug 2 remix.

Codemasters were having an issue with CMR PSP btw, it failed submission on a technicality. I'm not sure how they've got round this, but there were rumours of legal action against Sony.

I'll be impressed if it makes the shelves anytime soon.

Don't take my word for it fella, I'm going off third hand knowledge from our producers, it might well have been pushed through at the last minute.
