Picked mine up from Tescos at lunch today! The guy in front was moaning to the poor assistant about how he'd been trying for months to get one and she had clearly heard it 100s of times before. She came back with "I don't really see why everyone takes it so seriously".
It seems like there's a load more stock coming through now so hopefully it starts to get easier for everyone.

The fact that you can't cryptomine on PS5 and Xbox Series X probably helps a lot too ....It seems like there's a load more stock coming through now so hopefully it starts to get easier for everyone.

Is it just me that thinks its weird that its 5 months since launch and still no decent games? I don't have a PS5 yet, but the lack of games seems odd.
Not really, PS3 and 4 were similar, likewise the xbox doesn't either.I don't understand why the manufacturers don't line up (and actually get them out) games for launch.
That said, despite shortages PS5 is ahead of PS4 in sales apparently. So maybe they don't see it as a big concern?
Cynic in me says that its partly strategic, sell a system for £500 that you lose money on, recoup the money on games - ok.
So, sell system for 500 and release 4 games for £50 each with it. On average people will probably buy 1 or maybe 2 games.
Release system for 500, with one game available and then release the other 3 over the next 6-9 months, you'll probably get higher game sales.
Doesn't apply to Microsoft who are literally giving machines and gamepass away at the moment, clearly with a view to building an established userbase that they can them ramp up prices on.

PlayStation+ gives PS5 owners a fair few games, plus free ones every month.
I’ve only bought two games since getting my PS5 shortly after launch. Waiting for some decent new titles the same as the rest of you.
This is quite true, Horizon Zero Dawn is available from today I believe.I’ve only bought two games since getting my PS5 shortly after launch. Waiting for some decent new titles the same as the rest of you.

After completing assassins creed valhalla I've spent most of my time pissing around on War thunder.
I need a decent racing game to come out and keep me occupied
Despite the criticism of "its not like the old games" (which were often criticised for being the "same old thing" Gran Turismo Sport is pretty good. Lots of variations in cars and the daily races get addictive.I need a decent racing game to come out and keep me occupied
If you want more hardcore look at assetto corsa competizione, the sim racers seem to really like it (mostly on PC) but its pretty rough around the edges and had a very poor console launch. PS5 version coming apparently.
More casual ? look at wreckfest, again PS5 update coming in June (see separate thread), not played a massive amount online but I quite like it, the cars actually have some feel to them rather than being arcade like and th sliding about/crashing is entertaining.

Nope I find it both weird and annoying... I have a PS5 which I use to play PS4 games.... Could have stuck with the PS4 pro for that.....Crafty_ said:

I'm having an op done next week so I'm going to have a couple of months to fill before I can go back to work

Covid accounts for that really, lots of titles being delayed with working processes being hit. Can't help but think coivd is becoming a bit of a whipping boy in this respect, when you look at the bigger games developers they have multiple sites and collaborate on projects, the rest of the tech world does the same and has been for years..
I think the real issue is the usual story of varying scope, poorly estimated work and tight (maybe impossible) deadlines, in some cases toxic work environments, stress, long hours etc.
Look at the mess of cyberpunk that came out recently, years late and when it finally gets in to the hands of punters it literally doesn't work, Sony & MS pulled it from sale and offered refunds is was that bad. Plenty of other games get announced and then delayed, sometimes several times.
Now that there is massive money in game development a lot of studios seem to be under pressure to come up with ever bigger/more profitable games in short timescales and then the next year do the same thing, but better. Gamers don't help either, bhing about delays, lack of content/updates or some nuance or other - even if content updates are free they still complain.
I think it all needs a bit of a shake up.
