Prices are tumbling across Facebook marketplace at long last. I've seen £420 and £450 locally now for the disc edition as people have realised that supplies are easing.
Great I’ll be able to buy one soon in the normal way

Funny, I managed to get one at list price from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, yet there is not one new PS5 game I want. I just want the new Horizon: Zero Dawn 2, but that's not out yet. So all I do is play my existing PS4 games on it!

I walked passed Game and they had a sign up "PS5 in stock".

Picked one up but just playing my PS4 games at the moment.

Makes sense - the PS5/XBox Series are somewhat like a PC upgrade ... same basic architecture as the last gen but more power so you get your new kit and enjoy your existing games at better framerates or maybe with more detail/at a higher res. When you upgrade CPU/GPU or get a new PC, you generally don't go out and buy an entire new library and leave the old stuff behind.

I think this might be why Sony were initially trying to play down backwards compatiblity on the Playstation 5 but Microsoft forced their hand by making it a big deal with the Xbox Series X/S meaning Sony had to respond in kind. The result is that people aren't as hungry and willing to splash out on new-gen software as they were for PS4, especially not at the elevated price levels that Sony are trying to push for dedicated PS5 titles.

I've started this game twice now and can't seem to get past the first couple of hours,it just doesn't grab me.
I need to sit down one rainy day and give it a proper go as I haven't seen one bad review of it.

For me the issue is simply there are no PS5 games out that I want.

I have two on pre-order but the current crop, nothing really grabs me.

Same here. When Horizon 2 and GTA6 come out (assuming they ever make a 6 and don't just forever fiddle with 5's online stuff) then for me it will be worth the money. Until then I'm happy to stick with my PS4

And for me. I’d normally purchase a new PlayStation about 6-12 months after launch but with the PS5 I may wait for the inevitable smaller/tweaked spec version.

That's the only reason I would get one now. My PS4 Pro is fine. The fan goes a bit loud these days but it's fine. I even gave up waiting and bought Cyberpunk for £20 used (which was going to be my first PS5 purchase) and the kids are loving Miles Morales at the moment. The perfect storm covid caused means there are no games out there brand new that I want to play.

I'll just wait till after Christmas and look at getting one then

I was outrageously lucky and got one in early December or at least my nephew got me one. I had an older PS4 at the time and an older 4K TV. I bought a 4K OLED at the same time to compliment it and the difference is great but the only game we've been really enthralled with is RDR2 which would have been no different if we'd just got the decent TV and the PS4 pro. Even though I have one I still haven't seen anything yet that would make me desperate to upgrade had I not been so lucky.

I'm also in this boat. Nowt that I'm particularly excited about so will just wait until there's something I want, and hopefully by that point pick up the smaller / quieter / whatever version instead. Glad to hear availability is improving for those that do want one thumbup

I came here to hunt for stock tips but suddenly I don’t feel as motivated to rush out and snag one if or when there is stock.

I was holding out for far cry 6 but as that keeps getting pushed I’ll probably wait. Ghost sniper contracts 2 looks visually amazing but the reviews are pretty much the same as all of the others.

Pretty linear and reparative but broken up with the great kill cam for head shots etc.

I have 2 PS4’s (one slimline and one normal) that I’ll likely shift on to make space for the PS5 but looks like I too would just end up playing the PS4 games on the 5 until something else came along.

Anyway, I’ve set up the usual price and stock alerts so will see what might come.

I see Sony have lost their mind regards the upgrade path on their games when moving from PS4 to PS5. All that goodwill they built up fro the PS4, quickly being eroded away by nickel and diming their userbase.

Presumably that’s an oblique reference to Horizon Forbidden West?

Care to elaborate?

If you buy the PS4 version of Forbidden West there's no upgrade path (as yet) to the PS5 version. If you want both versions you have to buy the deluxe version for £80 (and I believe that's digital only).

If you want to update Ghosts of Tsushima to the PS5 version you have to pay £24.
