I had fun racing an ai car around on my tod last night, not about tonight unfortunately

Am not enamoured with the AI in the game - very good at going quick in the higher settings but as with all of these games the AI is absolutely useless at avoiding obstacles. Tried racing against one last night (to fill out the numbers as there was only two of us at the time) and the end result was that you had to give the AI car a very, very wide berth and stay off its line.

The only thing they are good for it seems is as pace cars

Yeah not too impressed with the AI either, they insist on taking the same line lap after lap, regardless if you (or another car) is already on that line. The amount of times I've been tagged when going in a straight line as they position coming up to a corner is unreal.
It does have some randomness though, good to see AI cars attempting to drift occasionally, and getting it wrong

Good evenings racing last night on the Jolt7 server. After receiving a nice setup from Lockstock I managed 4th place in 2 succesive oval races, followed by a strong 6th .

Not bad considering it was my first proper on-line attempt and I use the mouse to play.

Although there were a few users who should definately be banned, including the idiot who crashed out at the start of several races, then took out as many people as possible on susquent laps to try and force a restart..... I was running a strong 3rd in one race when he did this to me, smashed my car so badly it wasnt worth continuing..... W****r!!!!!

And he did this to people in several races, whilst constantly slagging off "noobees" Think the Pistonheads server needs to be opened up a bit as far as car selection goes... Please?

The selection on the PH server was purely an experiment. The choice on any given day is a matter of concensus. You tell me what you want and I will modify the config script to match

The Pistonhead sserver is superb idea (and we thank you) but I must say it would be nice if all the cars were now available.
It tends to be the friendliest server on line as there is only ever a couple of folks in there so car choice in each session tends to be agreed easily. Very adult bunch I've found. I have found that mostly people like to do practice sessions so at times it doesnt matter if was are all in different cars, its just cool to be on track with other people who act like adults. (reflection of the fact that its a server for users of this site? I hope so )

Would be cool to be able to oval race the V8's in practice/isolation with a couple of other pistonheaders as last night on the jolt server was excellent, but spoilt by a couple of 12yr olds.
I need to work on my setup as well.... loosing out on top speed last night by a couple of mph!!!

Yeah last night was pretty good. Although i have to say i was guilty of spinning it at the start a couple of times, but that was due to me being nervous as i was shunted off the track a couple of times at the start, so i wanted to get away as quick as i could. I was also taken out a few times when i was doing well...coming down into the apex on the 3rd bend and this fool drafting me got carried away with the extra speed he got and punted me off ! Bastid !

Jolt is good server as its almost always full, but the trouble is the nippers that play other games migrate over and automically use Jolts offerings.

Jimbro - if we could open up the car selection again that would be great as i think we can all be trusted to pick a car thats at the same level as the majority. Its only if you open it up to the public that maybe you should lock it down again.

I've been enjoying making new setups on your server mate - thanks a lot for letting us use it

Cheers

Gotta be honet I did spin at the start a couple of times, but thankfully pretty sure I didnt take anyone out (and you missed me when you did it )

Also got "draft spun" by a guy once... and I was running second at the time.... grrrrrr.

But very good fun it was in all.

My bad - I had run the wrong startup script so it was running as default mode.

All solved now.

Apologies to everyone
