ok - tomorrow night it is then. Start time?

nominations for track, number of laps and car(s)?

applicants for entry would be useful too. not sure (yet) how to control entry to the server beyond the password but I will figure it out!

Would also do to establish some ground rules:

restart by 90% consent only

if you crash out - stay out, attempts to restart will result in a black flag (ie you get banned).

If the car is damaged to the point it would not be driveable in real life then play fair and just pit! Re-entry from pit (ie car change) is not allowed while a race is running.

Anyone caught driving in a dangerous manner (on purpose) will be kicked off the server.

These are friendly races so be nice.

I'd like to race if there's room, anytime after 7ish is good for me

Aston GP is a pretty good track in the GT cars, running about 10 lap races can make it rather interesting on tyre wear or pit choice (assuming you're allowing drive in pit stops. If the field is small shorter races may be better as the pack may spread out excessively on long races.
The alternative is to allow voting on track choice and allowing any car (we can self regulate which car to use like last time)

I can do tomorrow but not until 9 unfortunately as i have to get back from london and go to teh gym blah blah blah...

Circuit i am not fussed, but i do think it should be single model racing. You guys can do practice and qualifying early and i'll start at the back of the grid - makes it more fun for me

Personally I would prefer to have a known quantity ahead so that a proper race can be run. Thus far we've had some fun knocking about but it would be great to indulge in some proper online racing.

Sounds good.

I will be online from about 7.30ish. So any race time after that sounds good, but dont mind waiting/practicing until SteveO arrives.

I'm easy on car choice although the 4wd GT racer is good fun as its pretty quite, very predictable, but also easy to become complacent and throw yourself off the track. Might give some close races.

Much fun would be the UF1000's as well. Very lift off oversteery even if they arnt very fast down the straights. Maybe a small tight track?

Formula V8's only really usable for me on the oval tracks as I still use the mouse control, but I did come 2nd on the Jolt servers the other day doing this, so I aint that bad.

But king has to be the Bike engined thingy.... so quick and loads of fun.

Just for reference the bike engined "thing" is one of these:

www.brunelracing.co.uk/cars/

or to give it the full name SAE Formula Student. Basically it is a bike engined single seater built to a set of fairly accomodating specs. Layout, footprint and safety features are all rigid but otherwise you can do an awful lot of things but the key thing in competition is that they are all quite different so there can be a huge performance differential on the track between competing teams.

The real competition though is not how they drive so much as how they are designed.

Shall we use the MRT's the this evening ?

I would also suggest the FOX as its a stable lower speed racer, but if you get too greedy with the throttle it can still bite

Either way i'll be on as soon as i can later, so i'll use whatever you guys are running.

What LFS license is required to play on the Pistonheads server? I have LFS S2 program, but still running on S1 license at the moment.

You will need the S2 licence to compete tonight I beleive (That will allow you to run the same version as the server).

go on, splash out on that licence.... you know you want too.....

S2 license purchased
I always planned to do so, but there's so much to enjoy with just S1, I was waiting for a reason to need to buy it. I may be online tonight with a couple of mates. Three abreast racing from my "study", complete with local taunts, banter, nibbles and drinks

Well done on buying the license

Getting the lads round for a race evening + beer sounds like a laugh - pitty my mates aren't into online racing

There is an MRT race on the City Course on thursday that i will probably get involved in if anyone else is interested. I'm PistonHead80 on the RSC forums.

The town course is one of my favourites, and so is the MRT car so it will be a blast !

Where is everyone? I was on the server for quite a while yesterday evening and no one showed up
Suggestion: if you want to race there and no one is on, hang around for a while to give others a chance to catch you there.

Anyone around after the F1 GP for some wheel to wheel action ? Just had a superb 10 lap race at blackwood GP with mandatory pit stop. Came 4th from last place and shaved 3 seconds off my laps by refining my FOX setup
