Getting organised in LFS
Discussion
Sorry i was caught up as a hose popped of the car last night. I didnt quickly log in around 10.10pm but no-one was around...
in the mean time i found a good server called 'UKLFS Race Server UK'(i think thats the exact name. Very clean racers and very competitive. I was about 2 seconds off the pace, but with the mandatory pit stop i found i was consistently finishing in the top 3 because i wasn't having any offs like the front runners who were going for it.
A good night's racing.

LX6 is the daddy you need to master ! Do that and the LX4 will be a piece of cake !
I'm off on a stag do this evening - a weekend of the lash, quadbiking, karting and speedboat tomfoolery in Newquay so i wont be about, but i will be around next week/weekend for some wheel to wheel action !

Yep - no doubt about it you need a wheel and pedals if you ever want to get good/fast in LFS. You can only do so much with a mouse and as you said its grief trying to drive the twitchy motors. You'll get a lot more satisfaction as well from feathering the throttle and correcting oversteer
Out of curiosity which of the current batch of wheels & pedals have seperate channels for each of the pedals?
I'm still using an old MS force feedback (getting rather old in the tooth now) and while it is pretty good (not fussed about the extra 600degrees of movement) the limitation of not being able to work brake and throttle together is frustrating in the extreme!
Just been awarded my bonus at work so I figure now would be the best time

Just to let you know there is a patch out for S2 that improves on a few bits and pieces. I dont think its mandatory but it looks like it will certainly be of use

My "old" game port MS Force Feedback wheel has seperate brake and throttle channels - might be something you can set in the control panel. I also have a lss tha year old Logitech Force Feedback wheel and pedal, which also has seperate channels for brake and throttle, and that is definately settable in the control panel. I think I prefer the Logitech, but they're both pretty good.

No such luck with mine - it is the USB version and I've never seen any such option. The control panel only allows me to callibrate it. Still a very, very good controller but not good enough for *real* driving
