Hi all, hope you can help?

I've noticed that the power of your cars in Forza is not in BHP but something else, erm, some other 2 or 3 letters. Does anyone know a rough conversion rate between BHP and whatever Forza actually use to quote a vehicles power?

I went a bit silly with mods on a 350Z and it's 550 somethings, reckon it's about 700BHP! The cars a bit of a handful to drive on the twisties! Cheers :driving: D4V KC

Go into the options screen and change the measurements to english. It's probably measured in PS which is almost identical.

try using:

http://home.flash.net/~lorint/lorin/convert.htm

but for in depth:

First we should define a KiloWatt and one HorsePower

Kilowatt (kW) A unit of electrical power equal to one thousand watts.

HorsePower (hp) Unit of power in the English system for measuring the rate at which an engine or other power source can perform mechanical work. One horsepower was originally defined as the amount of power required to lift 33,000 pounds 1 foot in 1 minute (This origin as to do with the Industrial Revolution when they replaced horses with Steam Engines).

Brake HorsePower (bhp)The power output of automobile engines is quoted in brake, or shaft, horsepower—that is, the maximum theoretical horsepower of the engine minus the power lost through heat, friction, and compression.

This Brings us to the Issue of Converting Between a bhp and a kW

The Key Value is how many pounds per foot per second can be moved with each unit.

Power Conversion Factors

1 watt (W) moves exactly 745.6999 pounds one foot in one second
1 horsepower (hp) moves exactly 550 pounds one foot in one second

[Multiplier for Kilowatts to Horsepower]
745.6999 (ft-lb/sec){1 watt} / 550 (ft-lb/sec){1 HorsePower} = 1.355818

[Multiplier for Horsepower to Kilowatts]
550(ft-lb/sec){1 HorsePower} / 745.6999 (ft-lb/sec){1 watt} = 0.737562121169655514235686500695521

So using an example of a Car with 118 Kw of Power to prove the formula
118 Kw * 1.355818 = 159.986524 hp

This Car's 159.986524 hp should return back to 118 Kw
159.986524 hp * 0.737562121169655514235686500695521 = 117.999999999999999999999999999917 Kw

Or not worry about it and know that more of whatever unit you are using is better.

550 Maranello racer is one of my fave handling cars in the game, Porsche Carrera GT is nice too.

Can't remember exactly what is says but it's an option to turn all settings to UK. I.e MPH, bhp and so on. Keep looking because it is there.
