Starfield : Bethesda's space game
Discussion
Looks like a late 2022 release, more to be revealed at E3 - https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/139539285...
Meh - let's see. These long in development, strongly hyped (it's about to become hyped) games are often massive disappointments.
Bethesda have published lots of great games but their in-house stuff really relies upon churning out updates to the old standards (Fallout, Tamriel universes).

Bit more info comes to light, "three very distinct Starfield locations – the United Colonies capital city, New Atlantis; the pleasure city of Neon; and the capital of the Freestar Collective, Akila."

Pushed back from it's 11/11/2022 release to a 1st quarter 2023 release - https://twitter.com/bethesda/status/15247211327205...
I've no idea why people expect so much from this title - much heralded 'epic' games almost always turn out to be total disappointments and are typically extremely delayed as companies try to keep adding stuff to make it match with expectations. If the company is committed, they can turn it around over time, following release, but just about the only game to ever do that was 'No Man's Sky'. Bethesda's own attempts with 'Fallout 76' are not exactly inspiring.
Bethesda also haven't exactly pushed the envelope with their own game engines (iD Software excepted) either, so I wouldn't expect it to be a great technical experience either.
There's just so much good stuff out there right now that it's not worth getting hyped over grandiose announcements from anyone. If it comes out and it is great then fantastic ... otherwise no great loss and not worth wasting time worrying about.

It's crazy then that Bethesda Softworks have games developers under it's wing that churn out games they publish using Unreal Engine such as the Dishonoured series and the 2023 UE5 game Redfall by Arkane Studios, Tango Gameworks recent Ghostwire Tokyo and InXile Entertainment. You'd think they'd see the development time and quality of the finished games and think "maybe we should be using that too".
So Fallout crossed with No Mans Sky then? I enjoyed the Fallout games, and enjoyed NMS up to the point I ran out of rocket fuel on a planet with no resources to make more rocket fuel (which was after about an hour of play from memory).
It looks interesting but I might wait and see how it reviews before spending any money on it.

Watched the demo. Looks terribly dated on the engine it’s running, I know it’s not the main focus, but with UE5 making huge waves, this demo looks clunky.
First thing that struck me is how FO4 it all looked. The mechanics and interactions, even the little crab creature design looked like something lifted straight from FO4.
Time will tell if it’s another Bethesda dud.
