I believe I may have peaked. I'm not sure how I can outdo StarDog, which immortalises one of our neighbour's companion animals with startling verisimilitude.

Maybe move the landing bay towards the rear and colour it red?

Does anything happen when you take that tt Donnovans record? The Red Mile is best just turbo run anyway, those creatures in it despite their level take forever to take out for 1xp? Bobbins!
Be prepared to be underwhelmed.

I think the first quest line I did was the Freestar Rangers, go to Akila sort out the bank problem, enlist and go. You get a nice ship as a reward at the end.

Apparently the reason behind all the loading screens, limited area exploring on planets etc.. is because the game engine uses the players spawn point as it's reference to place assets, build procedural generation and load any quest or NPC game data not the player. So go too far from the entry spawn point and it starts to lose track of assets, objects, player and basically starts breaking so they have a maximum distance where it doesn't break and no more. To change it to player based would require a complete rebuilding of the game, the way things load in how they are managed and how things are triggered even if the game engine could handle it. It's how it worked with the limited map size of Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 4, using loading screens for entering buildings but it's no good for planet exploration.
