Some of the spacecraft flight/fight reminds me of playing Elite in the 1980s - in a good way.
The game looks like a real time sink - may well have to avoid it.
Reminds me of Freelancer - MS's last (fairly decent) space sim. Quite happy if so.The game looks like a real time sink - may well have to avoid it.
I've been burned by Bethesda too much to get truly excited, but no doubt I'll buy it. Skyrim in space? Interplanetary Fallout? As their first new IP in ages and given how long they've had to develop it you'd hope the concept is brilliant, even if I know it'll have more bugs at launch than a Vietnamese street food cart.

Fingers crossed .... Every time I see Todd Howard I just want to punch him in the face .... When his lips move and the sound comes out all I hear is ' lies, lies, lies more lies I'm lying a bit here" etc etc ....
+1 here. I was burnt by Fall out 4.Still the sudden delay in launch for an unknown time makes me wonder if his new masters, Microsoft, have kept him more under control. I still suspect a bug ridden release, however 10 months less bug ridden than it would have been before
I'm in two minds, I will wait a month or two probably and then see whether to go for it. One of the things that does potentially put me off is the base building, if it is totally optional like in No Man's Sky, then fine, but in Fall Out 4 you had to do a minimum amount to just stop raiders at each of your town locations.

I love base building but FO4's 'encouraging' you to make so many of the damn things which would get attacked so often that you spend 90% of your time sorting them out... Its hard to play FO4 and keep one decent base say at the fort. This game has huge potential, I hope its NMS++ How they have covered ship building is pretty much what I have prayed NMS would implement, find a core frame of the type of ship you want then hunt down a ship with the cosmetic section you want, scrap the ship and add the section to the frame.
Really looking forward to playing the sorted out version in 2+ years time
FO4 base building was screwed up due to the enemy spawn points. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF0fMcYBD9A
Just build high fences around the spawn points with automatic weapons aimed in. Problem solved.

Spot on.What draws me to these games is the open-world aspect plus you can avoid difficult opponents until you are able to deal with them.
On a slightly different format I've been immersed in Tom Clancy's Ghost Breakout, very similar in many ways to the Fallout games.
