What would we want from a FH rival then?
I’d quite fancy it set somewhere northern, Iceland, Norway, Finland. Maybe tone down the festival side of things
Focus on actual racing, especially in lower or mid powered cars, as opposed to playing dress up, emotes and characters who all act like they're on coke.I’d quite fancy it set somewhere northern, Iceland, Norway, Finland. Maybe tone down the festival side of things

Forza Horizon is for people who like to cruise and show-off.
Forza Motorsport is for people who like a more racing/sim game (although if you actually want a proper sim, then Assetto Corsa/Competizione is where you need to be).

It also didn't seem to fall victim to the constant issue (in my view) of everyone just modding everything to 4wd.
Before Forza Horizon I was a huge fan of the project Gotham racing series (all of them).

The original Forza Horizon is still my favourite of them all, seemed to have a decent balance on the festival side, the map was in reality fairly small by modern standards but it was a great map.

PGR was great, and an older one I remember fondly was TOCA, which had many more British circuits than any of the current 'out of the box' offerings (yes, I know you can get add-on tracks for some sims now).It also didn't seem to fall victim to the constant issue (in my view) of everyone just modding everything to 4wd.

I've still got FH1 installed , yes it's a lot more limited but it's still drives really well, and somehow has a more extensive damage model than FH5. It also felt like a celebration of car culture, rather than Fortnite on wheels, but the latter is where the money is so that's the direction they'll take it.

I found FM7 a bit dull, one of the problems with series like this is that each instalment is pretty much the same as the last but with prettier graphics. So having put so much time into all the older entries, the law of diminishing returns start to apply.
.
This is exactly why I've not managed to convince myself to buy FM7. Ive spent loads of time on 6 and can justify the money for what is a couple of different tracks that I'm not really interested in .
Has anyone had any trouble being online?
Auctions work for me along with the festival playlist challeneges etc however it says there’s a problem with the server on the ‘online’ section.
I don’t care about being online but I f*cking hate the NPC cars, ruined so many skill chains, they drive on the wrong side of the road and loads of them just seem to appear wherever I want to go. It’s almost as if Forza purposely programmed them to drive like morons!
I’ve restarted the Xbox, disconnected and re connected to Wi-Fi, tried everything

Cheers for sharing the link. Interested to see what gets mentioned about it, so far i'm more inclined a new Xbox for this than I was a PS5 for GT7. Had I bought a PS5 for GT7 i'd be feeling pretty sick at just a slightly larger version of GT Sport, Polyphony have lost their way IMO and it's a real shame.
Still, at least the Forza Motorsport games still provide realistic, fun racing

Me too, basically to go through the weekly Forzathon events. It did tell me the other night that I couldn't do a super wheelspin because I had too many cars, so I went through and removed a load of duplicates that were still new and not driven.ajprice said:

I've realised I've lost interest in FH5 a lot quicker than 4. I was thinking about this the other night, maybe because 4 was set in the UK but I'd go back and drive certain routes a lot more in 4 than I ever have in 5. Apart from the tracks around the towns I can't really think of any routes I particularly want to revisit, even the town circuits are fairly annoying in anything overpowered especially RWD.
The Hot Wheels expansion was ok but again I think I played a bit and lost interest (the actual Hot Wheels game is much better). I'll give this rally expansion a go but I'm not a massive rally fan.
I think like a lot of others I'm wanting the new FM game to come along as I really miss the actual racing aspect.

I'd rather it preload today than launch tomorrow and have to download it before you can play.
If it's any consolation, after installing everything I now have the pleasure of a lengthy unskippable cutscene, followed by being directed to the MS store to purchase the premium addon that I already own, before I can play. Fabric said:
