Have you tried the Huey? That’s good fun to fly. Very basic in its systems and you pretty much rely on the ai co pilot and gunners to do the shooting stuff (but you can do it yourself), having said that though I find it very entertaining to fly.

That’s the only map I don’t have ... Almost pulled the trigger a few times but the posts about performance issues and the lack of updates by the devs on the DCS forums has put me off ...

I’ve read that you need 32gb, I don’t have it yet because I’m contemplating either Syria or the Persian gulf map.

Have 32Gb but it seems even 32Gb isnt enough. It sounds like it has a memory leak so after a certain time performance tanks. People on the DCS forums have been complaining about it for over a year and the devs haven't even replied ....

I find the performance pretty decent in Syria (most my flights are <2hrs), and a much richer and more varied experience than the Straits of Hormuz map. The addition of Cyprus adds a bit of British interest for the Harrier, Apache and Gazelle (as long as you aren't too much of a historical stickler). You can run USAF ops from Incirlik, USN/USMC from the med. Russians in Syria and IAF out of Ramat David. Turkey is very hilly and green, and the further east and south you go the more deserty it becomes. The terrain mesh is very fine too making it a great place for heli-ops. SoH is a lot of sand, and not much else.

Syria map is very good, I use vr and 32gb ram is enough for me. I can’t however play the Marianas map - that’s just a stutterfest..

I’ve just started using the Mig 21, what a beast! Anyone here playing it?

I like the odd blast in the MiG-21. I wouldn't say I'm effective in it, but I can start/takeoff/land and employ guns and rockets. Don't have the time or inclination to figure out that radar though. Definitely one of the more 'characterful' modules out there.

Ordered the Thrustmaster F18 stick decent price currently on Amazon.

Standard Thrustmster A10 stick same as F16 and the AV8B also uses the same stick as the F18 so a decent combo.

I gave in and got the Tomcat, compared to the F18 it's a learning curve and a half

I’m going to trial the f14 tomorrow!

I highly recommend the liberation dynamic campaign for anyone that’s not tried it.

Its good fun once you get the hang of it. I haven't learned any combat in it yet, just learning how to handle it etc

I think we need a players list with usernames/modules and all that, would be good to have a PH 'squadron'

Liberation is great, but taxing on your system (especially in VR). It is good feeling as if you are part of something larger though, instead of just a 'one-man air force', which is how some scripted campaigns can play.

I have high hopes for the ED's new dynamic campaign and mission planner engine, but not holding my breath on it happening any time soon.

Just having a play with my F18 stick and I think it's going to have to go back frown The Castle doesn't feel as it should left gives a nice solid click and return to centre as does right but up and down you get the click up/down but if you let go it doesn't click and return unless you give it a little prod.

Anyone else with the stick confirm if it's supposed to do this ?

Can't comment on the F-18 stick but if you or anyone else is looking for a really good but not ridiculously expensive stick then I recommend the VKB Gladiator NXT. Comes in standard and premium versions, the premium has a couple of extra analog ministicks and a 5-way hat in place of regular hats/buttons but it works well for me.
