Because I’m new to Steam I don’t have any games in my library and so far there aren’t many Deck verified games so I’ve downloaded Portal which I haven’t played before (I know, I’m 10 plus years late to the party!).
There are 1500+ fully verified games now, and roughly the same again that are playable. The criteria is incredibly strict so I wouldn't worry too much if a title you want is just 'Playable', that can literally be a case of some subtitles being a bit hard to read.

My option to buy just popped up. Still pondering.

£560 is quite the frivolous purchase.
If you don’t like it sell it, as another poster has said they are going for around £800 on eBay.

Well I’m pleasantly surprised, I thought it wasn’t going to feel polished but the quality and the way the software operates is very very good.

The hardware is excellent, it feels extremely premium.

Only frustration is the price of F1 ‘20 and ‘21 is still £40 plus!
Have a look on CDKeys ..
Just have and loads cheaper, thank you

I'm greatly enjoying mine. Still on Trailmakers; the ability to assign the back buttons has really opened up the game.

My Steam deck got delivered today and it’s an impressive bit of kit.

I’m not a PC gamer but I’ve bought it because I find a handhold fits with my life way more than a console does and my Switch has been swiped by my son!

Because I’m new to Steam I don’t have any games in my library and so far there aren’t many Deck verified games so I’ve downloaded Portal which I haven’t played before (I know, I’m 10 plus years late to the party!).
It's worth adding the Epic games free title every Thursday as these are playable on the deck without windows.

How do you add stuff from Epic?

After a bit of advise please...

I have a Steam account with numerous games and a Steam Deck on order.

My son is having a laptop for Christmas and I'll be setting up family view on Steam so he can only play what we allow.

There will be ocassions where we are gaming at the same time (not likely to be on same game), am I better off setting up a seperate Steam account for him or will it be OK for him to just use mine? I've read some of the guidance from Valve but still a little unsure, will he need to be connected to the Internet to play 'my' games (which will actually be his games that I'm buying for him on my Steam).

I went for it by the way.
The option to sell on made it a no brainer.

Had a look at prices but they didn’t seem to be fetching much more than retail has that changed ?

Not from what I'm seeing, decks for auction are still attracting at least double MSRP.

But I'd love to see some available and I'll happily queue jump biggrin

Or go even wider and offer to ship worldwide and it'll be snapped up. A 512GB one in Sydney went for the equivalent of £1460 last week with 65 bids.

The last five 512GB versions went for £800, £849, £850, £830 and £771 on eBay. Knock off the 12.8% fee and you're looking at £700 minimum for a £569 device. Wait for an eBay offer such as 70% of final fees and you should clear £200 profit.

256GB...£620, £700, £683, £749, £735 (£459 device)

The last few 64GBs... £611, £572, £659, £599, £550 (on a £349 device), a very similar profit margin as the above two after fees again.

Easy money if you're allocated one and don't want it, but given the wait is probably a year from ordering now they aren't quite as excessive as expected.

Thanks for doing the research, you realise that this is most man maths/justification?
I can only think of one thing I sold on after getting it and that was the PSVR when they came out. Sold it on to a friend of a friend for a small mark-up on retail.

Just wish mine would turn up.

Ordered @ 7:47pm the day after pre-orders opened so I guess I’ve still got a bit of a wait.

Just checked my emails - I ordered mine at 18:25 on 16th July and mine arrived about 4 weeks ago.

Mine is arriving tomorrow.

Got these lined up to play, one day (and once I've checked they all actually work)...

BeamNG Drive
Outer Wilds
Circuit Superstars
Unpacking
Teardown

Will also set up EmuDeck and have about 30 games I want to add across various systems, all of which are in the loft but too much faff to rig up now (I've fallen into the trap of adding 4000 games to emulators before, it's way, way better to be hyper selective).

How long is it between placing the order from the email and getting the delivery?

Usually about a week.
