I bought an Anker USB-C Dock from Amazon which appears to be working well, needs a bit of money throwing at it as you need at least 45W when docked for the Deck not to gradually discharge itself.

seems decent value to me, other than the weird ethernet jack location, includes a 100w charger
There's also a model with 3x USB 3 in place of the 2x USB 2 on that one https://www.jsaux.com/products/upgraded-docking-st...

Nice, seems to have good reviews so I've ordered one.

If I want to play steam games when at home at my desk I will use my gaming PC that is already connected to my gaming monitor etc. So I was wondering Is there any use for that (very cool) dock in my situation that I may have overlooked? I guess it is a charging stand at minimum? Maybe a little expensive for that aspect alone?

Cheers

Started GTA 5 yesterday (better late than never!) and after about 10 minutes most of the textures either disappear or just turn into a blur. Restart and it's fine but it'll do it again after a while. I've tried tweaking graphical settings, very odd as I can't find any other reports of it.

Keyboard/mouse/screen would be useful for the desktop mode Linux OS, and it should work the same way for the same thing with a Samsung phone using Dex.

Has anyone with a USB C based MacBook or slim PC laptop tried a Steam Deck dock as a powered hub and USB/HDMI connector for a screen/USB/network connection?

I've not but can't see why it wouldn't work, it's just the USBC standard with PD

one issue you may have is the deck docks have a specific length cable to reach the port on the top of the deck, though an extension would probably sort that.

Valve have tweeted that production is increasing again.
Pleasingly my preorder has been bumped up to Q3 as have a lot of others.

New preorders are now going into Q4.

Could we actually see Asia orders open finally.

Mines arrived - bloody hell it’s big and heavy biggrin

First impressions are positive….ran the F1 22 preview video and it looks amazing. Will start to download some game over the coming weeks and then look further sorting a wheel and pedal combo for F1 22 and iRacing…..if possible.

I’m loving mine. I’m currently playing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and whilst it was a faff logging into Origin the game looks and plays incredible on the Deck.

My fan is also silent, only issue I have is the obvious battery issue which is annoying.

I have a Anker 25,600 PD 60W power brick which is indeed a brick but will easily see me through another full charge plus seemingly a fair bit more. I've not fully tested it yet but can't think of many situations where I'd need 3x the battery life without access to power at all. Maybe a transatlantic flight + waiting times, but the Steam Deck in case would fill your carry on as it is!

There are some excellent settings tweaks out there for some games which will make barely perceptible changes on such a small screen but which can drastically increase battery life, so that's worth looking into if you have a specific game which is drawing a lot of power quickly.

If the Deck really takes off and we see millions of units out there maybe some developers will offer single click graphical options tuned for the Deck. Or maybe it could become a Valve supported community thing as control options already are.

Are there no default settings to lock at 30fps etc? I thought I'd read somewhere that there was.
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered, hopefully by Thursday.

Honestly I am tempted by one of these but have no Steam background and only have a PS4. However I travel for work a lot and it would make hotel rooms less boring. Is it really that good or should I wait for whatever comes next? The Backbone One PS edition looks interesting for remote play, but the reviews I have found haven't been outstanding.

I know the battery on the steamdeck wouldn't last all that long but when I checked the Steam library when considering ordering them the titles looked underwhelming to be honest. As a semi casual gamer - is it worth it?

What would be good - can you use a dock from a company such as Dell to plug it into some work from home monitors that your company might have provided during lockdown to ease working from home via a USB C?

Asking for a friend.

Apart from xbox an playstation exclusives, virtually every game is available on steam. You can also get some bargain bundles from Fanatic and other places. There is meant to be an official dock coming out at some point too.

Depending on the game's complexity, I've read reviews where they are getting 6+ hours from the battery.
Obviously, the more demanding the game the less battery life.
