Anyone got any good driving / racing games for the deck?
I really want to try mud runner? or snow runner is it? the game where you do the proper off road 4x4 driving stuff.

Forza Horizon and Dirt 5 look like they play pretty decent on the Deck.

Snow Runner is superb and the one to go for over the two, it's incredibly well supported.

I got gran turismo 2 and 4 running via emulation. A little fiddly to set up, and some slow down in 4 if you want to upscale (fine native). But great games and play well with steam controls. Also got a few need for speed games queued up too.

Snowrunner and Mudrunner are off-road driving games. I wouldn't really call them simulators, they aren't trying to be a realistic simulation and you can get away with some really silly things sometimes. Snowrunner is the newer of the two. It's been around for about 4 years, and there have been three yearly passes (DLCs) with additional maps and vehicles. Mudrunner is quite a bit older. There's a new related game, Expeditions, due out in March.

Snowrunner runs just as well on the Steam Deck as it does on a PC. I love the game, but it does have a few annoying bugs especially in the multiplayer mode.

Circuit Superstars is really good too, surprisingly deep for such a 'cutesy' looking game

Divinity 2 looks and plays superbly I’m playing it on the iPad. Steam Deck and pc !

Not at the same time of course but the iPad saves to Steam !

Has anyone setup their Logitech or similar wheel? Guessing the downside is poorer graphics when connected to a monitor/TV.

Not tried the wheel but there are compromises when connected to a tv.

I suppose it depends what you are playing … I don’t play at 4k usually at 1080 or below but games like divinity and the older grid games look fine I’m using an LG CX which has vrr.

I don’t play say very close to the screen either which helps !

Bought my Steamdeck OLED about a month ago and love it - it's reignited my love of gaming after 20 years. Control on Deck is great, Dave the Diver, Doom 2016, Wreckfest, Outer Wilds, all great. Just starting to get into some emulation stuff as well, although takes some reading to get it to work!

I absolutely love Dave the Diver. I was explaning the premise of it to a group of people (non gamers) yesterday at lunch and they all looked at me like I was mental laugh

Also just finished Dredge, which I enjoyed, and have a long list of indie type games to work my way through, which I think are perfect for SD.

What is the premise of Dave the Diver? This has popped up a couple of times for me recently and seems to get a lot of love.

You dive for fish by day and run a sushi restaurant by night.

You do quests for an eclectic bunch of characters, generally either involving diving or food prep. There's quite a few different side bits like running a fish farm and growing veg (for your sushi).

It all sounds quite mad but all goes together so, so well. It's one of those games where I always find myself saying, just one more dive, or just one more day (a day involves two/three dives and an evening at the restaurant).

Definitely worth a try.

Dave the Diver and Dredge are both wonderful. Perfect handheld games.

Dave the Diver - you fish by day (scuba diving with a harpoon etc) and help run a sushi restaurant with your catch by night. That's a very, very basic rundown, but it's so much more than that and goes in some interesting directions (whilst always keeping the basic fishing/restaurant mechanic).

I was finding it stressful as the game throws so much at you in terms of side quests, story etc, then I realised there is no rush or failure whatsoever for just parking those things and building the business up. I'm about 30hrs in and only on chapter 3!

Adore it, my favourite game of the last year easily. I wish the restaurant shift was longer as I really enjoy that, but otherwise it's near perfect.

Gonna have to give this a try ... so much good word of mouth. But as said by others, how good can a quirky indie game about diving to catch fish to sell in your restaurant be? biggrin

I'm currently playing through Days Gone, around 25 hours in, never played it before and seems to have mixed reviews on launch. I'm finding it absolutely stunning and one of the best games I've ever played, it is utterly brilliant.

Cult of Lamb was on sale, got that, brilliant.

Got Snowrunner on sale, I just can't get into it though, I seem to get stuck easily, I can't figure out where I'm meant to go for resources for a mission, or what vehicle/trailer I'm meant to take. I had Mudrunner years back and loved it, but this seems difficult to get into, maybe its just me though.

Mini motorways is my current favourite. I appreciate its quite an old game but I never heard of it till a few months ago.

I do the daily challenge most days, my best was about 80th in the world, but I think that was a fluke as I am normally 20,000th or something!

My highest score on the normal maps is about 3000. I still struggle to get over 2500 easily though.

I've been playing Snowrunner for the last few years on PS4 and there was quite a steep learning curve to it, but once you have decent upgrades and trucks it makes the game much more playable. If you're still giving it a go, I would recommend going to the first russian map and recovering the Tayga truck that is just north of the opening garage - extremely capable truck even in base form that will make the Michigan maps much easier.

Has anyone tried CP 2077 on the steam deck? I know it is a much improved game now-a-days so wondering what it's like on a hand-held, as I'm considering one instead of upgrading the xbox or PS to the latest gen.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

For CP2077, use ProtonDB to check Steam Deck compatibility - https://www.protondb.com/app/1091500
