I’m stuck on Suzuka. I’ve abandoned it a couple of times because I can see the gap to the lead growing too fast. Any suggestions on what car/strategy I should use? Or do I just need to drive faster?
I have not tried Suzuka yet. The main problem is going to be a car that can turn fast enough in the S section I suspect...

I am using the McLaren VGT for Daytona and a one stop - used hards and did not change tyres..

I tried the 962 but I can't get it to turn into some of the corners....

And I can't seem to even get the Tomohawk PP to sub 950?!!?

Done it finally used the 787b stuck a race gearbox and high Psi turbo done one stop medium to medium run till end of lap 6 tyres were utterly shagged at that stage. Then did a flat out 4 lap charge closed down a 18s defecit and won by 1.2s did have a lap more fuel than needed as well.

Thanks. I know the Mazda can be good on fuel. I will give it a go.

You could possibly do no stop on fuel map 6 with short shifting and race hards. Set gear ratio too 400kmph gain massive amount of time on the straight just be careful on slow section let the car do the work through them. Think I did a 1.30.5 fastest lap.

I just came second again. By 7 seconds. And I lost 9 when the AI punted me off the chicane......&*&**&$& things....

The GR1 Daytona race is very, very tricky. I hate using VGT's, so tried a few cars including the 787B, Nissan R92CP and Jaguar XJR-9 but could only manage 2nd and 3rd.

Then I saw someone on Reddit suggesting the Super Formula cars. Really fast through the corners, but you need to rely heavily on slipstreaming when going through the pack (as it struggles to get over 180mph without). Won by 0.1 seconds in the end!

Yea usual ai stuff I worked out it's not worth it to get Infront through there just sit behind and blast past on the banked curve. Also track limits on that chicane changes all the time.

It's been back since GT6 I've attempted a race like this (not given this one a shot yet) but back then whilst I love the old LM cars (787b, Nissan, Jag, Minolta Toyota etc) they weren't a patch on the newer stuff through corners, so maybe it's the wrong tactic to use them?

I'm thinking the Peugeot or the newly released Toyota (which is the recommended car I think) might be a better option?

I imagine the Toyota GT1 - if it was in the game - would be great

Like I say, not tried yet though

Won my first manufactures cup race pretty chuffed with that not the highest grade lobby but still in a class so fairly respectable. Might do a last to first challange in my next attempt.
Just so you know for the future. The official series only count your last race points for the championship. I did 2 at N24, both very frustrating.

First race I had an off in qualifying that put me P3 on the grid. Plenty more unplanned excursions in the race meant I finished P4.

Second race and my quali lap was going well until I caught someone up at Lauda links. I understand why they’ve turned slipstream off for qualifying but it was very annoying to be stuck behind someone for the rest of the lap, particularly when hohe act onwards is my strongest part of the course. Luckily I qualified on pole only to bin it at T1 in the race banghead decided I’d had enough gran turismo for the day, quit the race and went to the gym instead

Thanks for that in the end I was in a lobby for last race with some quick guys so done proper quali started 2nd had a great 3 way battle for first then managed to gap them by end of lap 2 went onto win again. Did get more points in 2nd race than first. Also managed to get back into AS rated after dropping to AB after a few days of terrible races.

Nice. You’re lucky your SR didn’t drop further, DR resets are infuriating

Thanks for the advice. Manage it using the 787B. Started with hard tyres and fuel map 6. Gradually turned up the power as the race went on. I seem to be better at saving fuel than fast lap times.
I reduced rear downforce for good top speed, but that made driving it a tricky and stressful experience.
I was lucky that the rain completely missed the circuit, so didn’t need to stop.

I just lost the clean race bonus for Spa. Why do you ask, and how !?

Well, heavy rain, I am on inters, three cars in front of me fall off the road - yellow flag thrown with all three still off the track and I tiptoe past them.. Oh you overtook under a yellow. No I did not, I carried on the blooming race track unlike the cars in front.. Am I supposed to stop and wait for them all to rejoin or what?!!?!?!?

Yep, I lost it at Le Mans last night for the same reason, 3 second penalty for overtaking under a yellow flag, despite them being all over the grass before Indianapolis. Ho' hum.

Have definitely found (unsurprisingly) that road car orientated builds which tend to end up more power biased, make the Le Mans 30 minutes basically 'unloseable'. So far I think my favourite is the Murcielago, although the F50 made it a little more exciting in the wet.

After a good few weeks on the game now I'm definitely becoming more attuned to the nuances of the handling and the feedback etc. I'm really impressed with the driving feel, enough that I plan to get a wheel (my current one won't work with PS5) because some of the cars / tracks I just really want to drive with 3 pedals and a wheel with this handling model and graphics. Even the sound is decent enough now.

I also love the water / rain implementation and how it feels, very impressive.

Not fussed about the grind, it's only a grind if you're insistent on getting the cars you want over a short timescale really. Would be nice to see more cars incoming, especially the few Holdens we've had in previous games, although I would say that hehe

I lost the clean race bonus on Suzuka because the AI don't understand blue flags and came off the racing line before jinking back onto it right as I was about to thunder past. Fortunately still won given the rain made the AI all fall off laugh

McLaren F1!

It monsters Le Mans. 195mph down the first part of the straight on fuel map 6. Just put hard tyres on it and had to detune it to 90% so you end up with 564bhp.

It's the first car I've used in all my attempts that has managed to get - and complete - the 8th lap.

I set myself a "fun" little challenge to find a car that would not only start the 8th lap, but would have enough fuel to still complete it with no compromises - so no short shifting etc (I was using auto anyway) or crossing the line at the end of the 7th then trundling all the way round the 8th.

Did a 3 lap stint on fuel 6, then a short 2 lap stint lower fuel setting (down to fuel 1 on the straights), then a final three laps on 6

It's harder than you think. No doubt there are other cars that can do it but most of the time you're either in the right car with the wrong weather, or the wrong car in the right weather. This was bone dry, bar a few spits on the windscreen, all race.

Lap times below. Dunno why it says I only pitted lap 2 though, must be a glitch
